A man has been arrested in Palma after allegedly following a neighbour with an axe and threatening him following a dispute over loud music.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, September 20, according to the Policía Nacional, which later arrested a Spanish man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of threats.

Dispute began over music

Police were called through the 091 emergency number after receiving a report that a person carrying an axe was pursuing another man.

When officers arrived, they spoke to the people involved and were told that the incident had begun with a disagreement over the volume of music coming from a home.

According to the account given to police, one neighbour had gone outside to complain about the noise.

The man whose home was allegedly playing the loud music then came downstairs in an attempt to discuss the situation.

Four men allegedly followed him

After the conversation, the man returned towards his building.

Police were told that four other men then followed him in a hostile manner.

He was unable to close the entrance to the building before the group reached it, allowing the four men to enter the portal.

According to the victim's account, one of the men was allegedly carrying an axe.

The victim told officers that the man carrying the axe threatened him and allegedly said: “Te voy a cortar la cabeza.”

Police also received a report that the victim had been struck several times in the face by one or more of the men.

Police locate the four men

After speaking with the victim and a witness, officers began looking for the four men.

Police later found them inside a home.

One of the men matched the physical description provided by both the victim and a witness as the person who had allegedly carried the axe and made the threats.
