Zinètic Cinema Returns to Cine Regio Ibiza with Eight Independent Films for Its 11th Season

November 05, 2026

Independent cinema returns to Cine Regio in Sant Antoni this November as Zinètic Cinema launches its 11th season, bringing eight international films to Ibiza between November 2026 and March 2027. The programme features a selection of alternative cinema, festival discoveries and distinctive contemporary productions that rarely reach conventional cinema circuits on the island.

The new season begins on Friday, 6 November 2026, with the Colombian film Un poeta, directed by Simón Mesa Soto. The screenings will continue on selected Fridays until 12 March 2027, with films from Colombia, Iceland, South Korea, the United States, Poland, Argentina and Spain.

All screenings will be presented in their original language with subtitles, offering local audiences an opportunity to discover international cinema on the big screen. Tickets cost €6 per film.

Eight Films from International Cinema

The 2026–2027 programme brings together eight productions with very different styles, from tragicomedy and family drama to psychological horror, science fiction and documentary filmmaking.

The selection includes films by established international directors alongside distinctive independent productions that have attracted attention at major film festivals.

Here is the complete programme for the new season.

6 November 2026: Un poeta

The opening screening features Un poeta (2025), a Colombian tragicomedy directed by Simón Mesa Soto.

The film follows an overlooked, alcoholic poet who believes his literary ambitions have been forgotten. His life takes an unexpected direction when he discovers the writing talent of a teenage girl aspiring to become a poet herself.

Shot on 16mm film in the streets of Medellín, the production received the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival and the Horizontes Latinos Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

20 November 2026: El amor que permanece

Directed by Icelandic filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason, El amor que permanece (The Love That Remains, 2025) explores family relationships during a period of separation.

The film follows a family over the course of a year as the changing relationship between its parents affects the lives and connections of those around them.

Pálmason, also known for Godland, brings an intimate and unusual perspective to this family drama.

11 December 2026: Hope

South Korean director Na Hong-jin brings Hope (2026), a production combining apocalyptic thriller elements, monster cinema and cosmic horror.

Set in an isolated coastal community threatened by a mysterious situation, the film explores a frightening sequence of events against a backdrop of forest fires.

The production competed in the official selection at the Cannes Film Festival, making it one of the notable international titles in this season's programme.

8 January 2027: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

The programme continues in January with Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026), directed by Jane Schoenbrun, the filmmaker behind I Saw the TV Glow.

Combining horror, comedy and metafiction, the story follows a filmmaker obsessed with reviving an old slasher-film franchise.

The film received the Queer Palm at Cannes and the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

22 January 2027: You Can See Everything

Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, You Can See Everything (2026) is a documentary featuring Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos.

The film follows Holmes in the period leading up to her entry into prison, developing into a wider exploration of representation, truth and the way people construct their public identities.

Its inclusion adds a documentary perspective to a programme otherwise dominated by fictional narratives.

5 February 2027: Fatherland

One of the season's notable productions is Fatherland (2026), directed by Polish filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski, known internationally for Ida and Cold War.

The film follows writer Thomas Mann and his daughter Erika through divided Germany in 1949.

The cast includes Sandra Hüller and Hanns Zischler. Pawlikowski received the Best Director award at Cannes for the film.

19 February 2027: La noche está marchándose ya

Argentine directors Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Sonzini bring La noche está marchándose ya (2026), a black-and-white film centred on a projectionist who loses his job and secretly takes refuge in the cinema club where he once worked.

Described as a declaration of love for cinema itself, the production received the Best Director award at the Seminci Valladolid International Film Week.

12 March 2027: Lejos de los árboles

The season concludes with Lejos de los árboles (2026), directed by Spanish filmmaker Meritxell Colell.

The film takes audiences on a sensory journey through Peru, exploring family memories and the legacy of Republican exile.

The screening will be organised in collaboration with Ibizacinefest, the International Independent Film Festival of Ibiza. The production received the FIPRESCI Award at the Locarno Film Festival.

A Space for Independent Cinema in Sant Antoni

Zinètic Cinema has become an established part of Ibiza's cultural calendar, offering an alternative to mainstream releases and the conventional commercial cinema programme.

The initiative is promoted by Juanjo Ribas and Josep Sendra, with the involvement of Sant Antoni Town Council and Cine Regio.

Across its previous ten editions, the project has introduced audiences to films with distinctive visual styles, ambitious storytelling and subjects that encourage discussion beyond the cinema screen.

Its continuation into an 11th season reflects the organisers' commitment to keeping independent and international filmmaking accessible to audiences on the island.
