New Can Misses Stadium Could Accommodate 12,000 Spectators Under UD Ibiza's Ambitious Plans

November 02, 2026

Can Misses could undergo a major transformation, with UD Ibiza and the Ayuntamiento de Ibiza discussing a long-term arrangement that would allow the club to finance and manage a substantially modernised stadium.

The preliminary concept goes beyond expanding the existing football ground. It envisages a multi-purpose venue with covered stands, VIP hospitality areas, commercial facilities and infrastructure for concerts and other events.

According to information published by Cadena SER on 29 October 2026, the proposed stadium would have capacity for approximately 12,000 spectators, with the club expected to invest tens of millions of euros in the redevelopment.

However, the project is not yet approved, and the proposed agreement has not been signed. The Ayuntamiento has explicitly stated that no final agreement with UD Ibiza has been reached.

A Stadium with Capacity for Around 12,000

The current proposal would effectively transform Can Misses into a new stadium, retaining its location while significantly changing its facilities and services.

The preliminary plans include a covered main stand, an expanded general stand and improvements throughout the venue. The intention is to bring the stadium up to the requirements for professional league football.

The redevelopment would also introduce more facilities for supporters, particularly season-ticket holders, with new VIP areas and hospitality spaces.

The project is expected to incorporate sustainability and energy-efficiency criteria, although detailed technical specifications have not yet been made public.

Concerts and Events Beyond Football

One of the most significant changes under consideration is the possibility of using Can Misses for concerts and other large-scale events.

The preliminary proposal includes a closed perimeter and infrastructure at one end of the stadium designed to accommodate musical performances.

This would give the venue a broader role beyond football, potentially allowing it to generate activity throughout the year and provide Ibiza Town with another large-scale events space.

The proposed facilities also include a possible small commercial centre with restaurants, alongside a gym, spa and a possible residence for athletes.

These elements remain part of the preliminary plans and are subject to change as negotiations and technical work continue.

Could the Stadium Include an Infinity Pool?

One particularly unusual idea reported in connection with the future stadium is an infinity-style swimming pool on the upper part of the venue, allowing guests to watch matches from the pool area.

This feature has been reported as a proposal attributed to Diario de Ibiza, but it has not been confirmed as part of the main preliminary project outlined by Cadena SER.

If eventually incorporated, it would reinforce the ambition to create a premium hospitality experience, combining football with leisure, exclusive viewing areas and food and drink services.

It should not, however, be regarded as a confirmed feature of the future stadium.

Investment of Tens of Millions of Euros

UD Ibiza is expected to finance the redevelopment, with the investment estimated at tens of millions of euros.

To make such a substantial commitment economically viable, the club and the Ayuntamiento are discussing a long-term operating arrangement.

The proposed agreement would last for at least 40 years and could potentially extend to around 50 years. This would give the club a longer period in which to recover its investment through the operation of the facilities.

One of the outstanding issues is the annual concession fee payable to the Ayuntamiento. Cadena SER reports that an external consultancy has been engaged to help establish the amount, which would be linked to the club's annual accounts.

The final financial and legal conditions have yet to be settled.

Works Could Be Carried Out While UD Ibiza Continues Playing

The proposed redevelopment would be completed in phases, allowing UD Ibiza's first team to continue playing at Can Misses while construction is underway.

This approach would avoid the need for a permanent relocation during the works, although the final construction schedule and arrangements have not yet been announced.

The project would also include a complete renovation of the changing-room facilities and improvements to the wider stadium infrastructure.

Can Misses Would Remain Publicly Owned

The discussions concern a possible long-term concession or transfer of operational management, not a sale of the stadium.

Can Misses is municipally owned. Under the existing agreement, signed in September 2025, UD Ibiza has the exclusive ordinary use of the stadium for its official matches and first-team training. The Ayuntamiento retains ownership and reserves the right to use the facilities occasionally for sporting and cultural events.

That agreement runs until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of a further two-year extension.

The 2025 agreement also established a working group to study the feasibility of a longer-term administrative concession that could enable the stadium's modernisation and expansion.

The future arrangement raises questions about how the stadium would be managed as a public asset, what access other clubs and sporting organisations would retain, and how the needs of the wider community would be considered.

No Final Agreement Yet

Although negotiations between UD Ibiza and the Ayuntamiento have advanced, the municipality has made clear that no final agreement has been reached.

The proposed long-term arrangement still requires the outstanding technical, financial and administrative details to be resolved. The annual concession fee is among the issues still being examined.

The preliminary project could therefore change before any agreement is formally signed and the redevelopment moves towards implementation.

For now, the plans offer an indication of how Can Misses could evolve into a larger, multi-purpose sporting and entertainment venue. Whether the full concept becomes reality will depend on the outcome of negotiations and the formal decisions that follow.
