Around 300 kilos of waste were removed from the coastal area of Cala Gració in Sant Antoni de Portmany on Sunday, September 20, during a community beach clean-up involving 75 volunteers.

The fourth annual edition of the initiative in the municipality was organised by Facsa with the collaboration of Sant Antoni Town Hall, bringing together residents, sports clubs, associations and local businesses.

75 Volunteers Take Part

The clean-up brought together 75 volunteers during the morning, with several local organisations taking part alongside residents.

Among the participating sports clubs were UD Portmany, CF San Rafael and Fútbol Club Luchador.

The UTE Portmany and the Associació de Voluntaris d'Eivissa also joined the activity, together with local businesses including Ibiza Publicidad, Barbería Mister Beards and Taller de Metal Siras.

Around 300 Kilos of Waste Collected

The clean-up ended with around 300 kilos of waste collected from the Cala Gració coastal area.

Sant Antoni Mayor Marcos Serra attended the clean-up together with Pepita Torres, the municipal councillor responsible for Environment, Cleaning and Beaches.

Part of a Wider Clean-Up Weekend

The Cala Gració activity took place during a weekend of environmental clean-ups across Ibiza, coinciding with World Cleanup Day on September 20.

Other volunteer activities were held at different points around the island, including a separate operation between Es Cubells and Ses Boques, where more than 300 kilos of marine waste were collected.

Together, the two Ibiza clean-ups accounted for more than 600 kilos of collected waste.

Focus on Coastal Protection

Beach and coastal clean-ups provide a practical way of removing accumulated waste while raising awareness of how rubbish can affect beaches and marine environments.
