Paddleboarder Discovers Wrecked Boat Among the Rocks on Ibiza Coast

1 October 2026

A paddleboarding trip along the coast of Ibiza took an unexpected turn when content creator Carla Martín came across the remains of a badly damaged boat lying among the rocks.

Martín, who lives in Ibiza and regularly shares videos from her paddleboarding trips around the island, documented the discovery in a video published on social media.

What initially caught her attention from the water looked to her like a possible zip line or installation. As she paddled closer, she realised it was the remains of a boat.

An unexpected discovery from the water

Martín approached the rocks on her paddleboard to take a closer look at the vessel.

In the video, she shows sections of the boat wedged among the rocks, along with various objects and components that appear to have been left around the wreck.

Among the items she points out are a battery, a propeller and a sun hat.

The condition of the boat prompted her to describe it as one of the most damaged vessels she had seen, saying during the video that she had “never seen a boat so wrecked.”

Another report of the same discovery says Martín believed the incident may have happened recently, although there is no independently confirmed date for when the boat came ashore.

The boat's identity remains unclear

During her exploration, Martín tried to identify the vessel.

At one point in the video, she appears to read a name on the boat as something similar to “Aleki Star”, but immediately makes clear that she is not certain.

The name therefore cannot be treated as a confirmed identification.

A comment from a social-media user claimed that the vessel belonged to the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, but this is also not independently verified.

There is currently no reliable evidence establishing the boat's owner, its exact identity or the circumstances that led to it ending up among the rocks.

Concern about the remains

What began as an unusual discovery quickly became a source of concern for Martín.

As she moved around the wreck, she highlighted the different pieces and objects remaining in the area and questioned why they had not yet been removed.

She specifically mentioned the battery and other components and expressed concern for the marine environment and animals in the area.

“I would like to clean it up and help the community,” she said during the video, adding that she felt sorry for the animals and the sea.

Her comments reflect her personal reaction to the discovery rather than an official assessment of any environmental impact.

The video attracts attention online

The video has attracted significant attention on social media.

A report published by Periódico de Ibiza said the video had accumulated more than 600,000 views on TikTok and hundreds of comments. One commenter also shared a photograph that they said showed the same boat shortly before it hit the rocks. That photograph and the claim about the vessel's previous position have not been independently verified.

Martín subsequently referred to her exploration jokingly as a “boat wreck tour”, maintaining the informal tone of the original video.

No confirmed information yet on the boat's removal

The discovery also raises a practical question about what will happen to the wreck and the objects left around it.

Martín called for the remains to be collected, but the reports available do not establish who is responsible for removing the vessel or whether an official operation has been initiated.

There is also no confirmed information establishing whether the wreck poses an environmental hazard.

Those questions would require confirmation from the relevant maritime or local authorities.

A curious find with unanswered questions

For Martín, what began as an ordinary paddleboarding outing became an unexpected encounter with a badly damaged boat on Ibiza's coastline.

The video documents the condition of the vessel and the debris visible around it, but important details remain unknown, including its confirmed identity, ownership, the circumstances of the incident and the plans for removing the remains.

Until those details are confirmed by the relevant authorities, the wreck remains an unusual discovery documented by a paddleboarder rather than a fully explained maritime incident.
