Ibiza Town is continuing work on a municipal plan designed to improve and reorganise almost 1,600 free parking spaces across ten areas of the city.

The Plan de Mejora y Adecuación de Aparcamientos Disuasorios is being financed through the Balearic Government's Sustainable Tourism Tax, with a total investment of €1,001,272.58.

The project focuses on bringing existing parking areas into better order while also creating around 300 additional spaces. The works include improving surfaces, marking parking bays, installing signage and lighting, adding accessible spaces and planting trees to provide shade.

1,148 Spaces Already Completed

According to the latest update from Ibiza Town Hall, work has already been completed on five parking areas, representing 1,148 spaces.

These are:

• Sa Joveria-Cas Dominguets: 940 spaces

• Sa Llavanera: 33 spaces

• Avenida 8 d'Agost: 103 spaces

• Es Raspallar: 37 spaces

• Font i Quer: 35 spaces

The 940-space Sa Joveria-Cas Dominguets facility is the largest element of the project.

The completed works include the organisation and marking of parking spaces, improvements to the ground and pavement, accessibility measures for people with reduced mobility, lighting and tree planting.

148 Spaces Currently Under Construction

A further 148 spaces are currently being worked on in two locations.

These include:

• Avenida Sant Jordi: 48 spaces

• Calle Sa Punta: 100 spaces

Once these works are completed, the number of spaces upgraded or organised through the plan will reach 1,296.

Another 302 Spaces Still to Come

Three additional areas remain pending, representing another 302 spaces:

• Calle d'En Bossa: 54 spaces

• Mare Nostrum: 226 spaces

• Solar de la Associació de Vesins de Sant Pau: 22 spaces

If all of the planned works are completed, the project will cover close to 1,600 parking spaces across ten locations in Ibiza Town.

The programme is intended to provide more organised parking options around different neighbourhoods and access routes into the city, helping reduce pressure on on-street parking.

More Than 4,900 Free Parking Spaces in Ibiza Town

The latest municipal information cited by Noudiari states that Ibiza Town has more than 4,900 free parking spaces overall, in addition to areas designated as white zones on some streets.

The town hall has also created an online section dedicated to parking in the city, including information about the dissuasive parking areas and their locations.

A €1 Million Parking Investment

The dissuasive-parking programme represents an investment of €1,001,272.58, funded through the Balearic Government's Sustainable Tourism Tax.

The works are intended to improve the condition and organisation of parking areas that were previously degraded or underused, while providing better-defined spaces and facilities for drivers.

Ibiza mayor Rafael Triguero said the programme would help organise parking areas across different neighbourhoods and provide free alternatives outside the areas experiencing the greatest traffic pressure.
