MasOrange Becomes Orange España as Orange Takes Full Control of Spanish Telecom Group

23 September 2026

MasOrange has entered a new phase in Spain, with Orange España now replacing MasOrange as the group's corporate identity.

The change follows Orange's acquisition of the remaining 50% of MasOrange from its joint venture partner Lorca in June, giving the French telecommunications group full ownership of the Spanish operator. The transaction was completed on 8 June 2026 for a cash consideration of €4.25 billion.

Orange announced the new corporate identity on 22 September.

MasOrange name replaced at corporate level

The company says the move to Orange España is intended to simplify its corporate identity and bring its Spanish operations under a more recognisable name.

The change affects the way the company presents itself to customers, institutions, investors, employees and the wider public.

Importantly, Orange says the change is exclusively corporate and does not modify the group's commercial brands.

This means consumers should not interpret the announcement as the immediate disappearance of the different telecom brands operating within the group.

The commercial brands remain

Orange España continues to operate a portfolio of national and regional brands.

Orange's current corporate information says the group has eight main national brands and five regional brands, with around 1,500 points of sale across Spain.

The company's history in Spain includes brands such as Orange, Amena, Jazztel, Yoigo, MASMOVIL, Pepephone, Simyo, Euskaltel, R, Telecable and Embou.

The corporate change therefore creates a new umbrella identity while the commercial brands continue to operate.

Orange completed its takeover in June

The latest rebranding follows a major change in ownership earlier this year.

MasOrange was created in 2024 through the combination of Orange Spain and Grupo MASMOVIL, with Orange and Lorca initially sharing ownership.

Orange subsequently agreed to acquire Lorca's 50% stake for €4.25 billion.

The acquisition was completed on 8 June 2026, giving Orange 100% ownership of MasOrange and allowing the group to fully consolidate the Spanish company's financial results.

A major operator in Spain

Before the rebranding, MasOrange had established itself as Spain's largest telecommunications operator by customer numbers.

Orange's figures show that, as of 31 March 2026, the business had approximately 26 million mobile customers and 7.1 million fixed broadband customers.

The company's current corporate website reports approximately 47 million mobile and broadband lines combined, more than 32 million homes covered by its fibre network and 5G coverage reaching more than 93% of Spain's population.

Focus on fibre, 5G and digital services

Orange España says the new corporate identity will support its wider strategy beyond traditional telecommunications.

The company is highlighting investment in fibre and 5G networks alongside areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing and other digital services.

Orange says it has invested close to €50 billion in Spain in fibre and 5G networks and has generated around 55,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Those figures are company-reported figures rather than independently audited employment statistics in the announcement.

What changes for customers?

For customers, the immediate practical impact should be limited.

Orange states that the change concerns the corporate identity and does not modify its commercial brands. The company's consumer-facing brands therefore continue operating under their existing names.

The corporate identity will instead become increasingly visible across company communications, institutional activity and other corporate channels.

Why the change is happening now

The timing follows Orange's move from being a 50% shareholder in MasOrange to becoming its sole owner.

With the acquisition completed, Orange says the new identity reflects the integration of the Spanish operation into the wider Orange Group.

The company also argues that Orange is already its strongest and most recognised brand in Spain, making Orange España a simpler corporate identity for the business.

Orange España's next phase

The company says its Spanish operation will continue investing in network infrastructure and digital services while maintaining the commercial brands already used by customers.

For Spain's telecommunications market, the change marks the end of the short-lived MasOrange corporate identity created after the 2024 Orange-MASMOVIL combination.

The business is now fully owned by Orange and will operate under the Orange España corporate identity as it continues its expansion across telecommunications and broader digital services.
