One of Ibiza’s best-known rock bands is officially back.

Statuas d Sal has announced a full return to the stage, a new album titled ‘Desde la otra orilla’ and a four-date Spanish tour in spring 2027.

The announcement comes only weeks after the group reunited for a hugely anticipated concert in Ibiza, suggesting that the August performance was not simply a one-off reunion.

The band is officially back

Statuas d Sal announced their return on September 21 through their social-media channels.

The group said they had received “immense expressions of affection” from fans and had decided to reunite to give something back to the audience that had continued supporting them throughout the years.

The announcement confirmed both a new recording project and a new concert tour.

A reunion sparked by the fans

The decision follows the band's performance at Ibiza's Vara de Rey on August 5, during the city's Festes de la Terra.

The free concert marked the group's return to the stage after its long absence and attracted a large crowd.

Members David Serra and Joan Barbé had already suggested around the time of the August concert that the reunion might not be the last time audiences would see them together.

Their latest announcement now confirms that a much bigger return is being planned.

‘Desde la otra orilla’

The new project is called ‘Desde la otra orilla’.

According to the band's announcement, the album will feature songs that many fans already know, brought back into the present with a new approach.

Rather than describing it simply as a collection of entirely new compositions, the group says the project will revisit existing songs and introduce them to a new era.

The band has said it will share more details about the album in the near future.

Four concerts in Spain

The comeback will also include a four-date tour in 2027.

The currently announced concerts are:

Madrid, April 30, at Moby Dick.

Zaragoza, May 8, at Sala Zeta.

Barcelona, May 14, at Razzmatazz 3.

Granada, May 22, at Sala Riff.

The band has announced that tickets are already available through its website.

From Ibiza to the rest of Spain

The tour represents a return to the band's long-established connection with audiences beyond the island.

Statuas d Sal formed in Ibiza in the early 1990s and went on to tour extensively in Spain.

The band's official biography records a career that included several studio albums, national tours and major festival and concert appearances.

A long history behind the reunion

The group began in Ibiza in the early 1990s, originally under the name Estatuas de Sal.

In 1995, they won the ImaginaRock competition, which led to the recording of their first album.

Over the following years they released albums including ‘La onda inestable’, ‘Fácil’, ‘Siempre que ocurre lo mismo sucede igual… pero de distinta manera’ and ‘Pies dulces’.

Their final studio album before the long hiatus was ‘Un día es un día’, released in 2010.

Their 2013 farewell

After 23 years of activity, Statuas d Sal announced their farewell in 2013.

Their final concert took place on July 27 that year at the Recinto Ferial de Ibiza.

The concert was later documented in ‘Klosing Fiesta’, a CD and DVD project that also included the documentary ‘Puntos Suspensivos’.

The band was never completely forgotten

Although the group stepped away from regular performances, its music continued to be part of Ibiza's cultural memory.

The musicians occasionally reunited for special appearances, including a performance at Sueños de Libertad in 2017.

In 2024, Statuas d Sal returned to the stage again after 11 years for a special concert at the Recinto Ferial as part of Estiu Jove.

That appearance was followed by the much larger 2026 reunion in Vara de Rey.

The current line-up

The band's current line-up is listed as David Serra on vocals and bass, Joan Barbé and Omar Gisbert on guitars, Juanma Redondo on keyboards and Fernando Hormigo on drums.

Statuas d Sal's career has taken them considerably beyond Ibiza.

Their official biography records appearances at the Doctor Music Festival and a performance alongside major artists at the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid.

The group also describes ‘Pies dulces’, released through Sony BMG in 2007, as the first album issued exclusively in digital format in Spain.

That release was followed by a national tour and further high-profile concert appearances.

A new chapter after 13 years away

The August 2026 performance came 13 years after the band's 2013 farewell.

Now, rather than simply celebrating their back catalogue with another isolated concert, the musicians are preparing new material and a national tour.

The 2027 project therefore represents a more substantial new chapter for Statuas d Sal.
