The OD Art Awards returned to Ibiza for their ninth edition on September 25, bringing together more than 400 people at Ocean Drive Talamanca for an evening dedicated to contemporary art, local creativity and emerging talent.

Organised by Grupo Ramat and IbizArt Guide, the 2026 edition was held under the theme “Repair to Create”, inviting artists to explore the idea of repairing, reusing and transforming objects, relationships, emotions and environments.

The event combined an exhibition, awards ceremony and gathering for Ibiza's artistic community.

Repair to Create

The central concept of this year's awards was inspired partly by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi, in which broken ceramics are repaired while highlighting their fractures rather than hiding them.

The idea was used as a starting point for artists to consider what happens when something damaged or discarded is given another purpose.

The theme also connected with questions around sustainability, recycling, upcycling and Ibiza's relationship with consumption and waste.

Participating artists were given freedom to interpret the concept through different artistic disciplines, including work with reused materials and more intangible forms of repair involving emotions, communities and the environment.

More Than 400 People Attend the Awards

The September 25 event at Ocean Drive Talamanca brought together more than 400 people, according to reports following the ceremony.

The gala was presented by actress África Serenella and included the presentation of several different awards connected with the evening's artistic programme.

Guests also received individual pieces created by artist Laura Huguet Nonó using discarded clay fragments from her studio.

Each piece incorporated a word made with 10-karat gold leaf, continuing the evening's connection with the kintsugi-inspired theme of finding value in the traces left by repair.

IbizArt Guide Exhibition Awards

One part of the evening recognised artists participating in the IbizArt Guide group exhibition held at the Centre Cultural de Jesús.

The public visiting the exhibition took part in the selection process by voting for their preferred works.

The three exhibition prizes went to:

First prize: Martín Díaz

Díaz received a trophy created by Stella Rahola together with a feature in the 2027 edition of IbizArt Guide.

Second prize: Laura Huguet Nonó

Huguet Nonó received a work by artist Marcel Zauner.

Third prize: Marta Santamaría

Santamaría received a page in the next edition of IbizArt Guide.

These awards were connected specifically with the IbizArt Guide group exhibition and should be distinguished from the separate “Repair to Create” competition.

Discovery and Lifetime Achievement Awards

The OD Art Awards also recognised two artists through additional awards.

León Orozco received the Discovery Award, which recognises the most outstanding exhibition of the previous year at Ocean Drive hotels.

Luis Miguel Romero, known artistically as Rom Ero, received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

These awards recognise artistic careers and exhibitions rather than ranking the winners within the “Repair to Create” competition.

“Repair to Create” Competition Winners

The evening concluded with the prizes for the dedicated “Repair to Create” competition.

First prize: Clàudia Vives-Fierro

Vives-Fierro received €1,500. She was unable to attend the ceremony because of a prior commitment but shared her reaction and thanks to the organisers by telephone.

Second prize: EL.RoL

The second prize was €800.

Third prize: Laura Echaniz

The third prize was €300.

The competition jury brought together professionals from different areas of art and culture: Elena Ruíz, Diana Pintado, Sarah Suco, Sergio Sancho, Emma Salahi, Stefan Bruggeman and Anna Bigas.

Supporting Ibiza's Creative Community

The OD Art Awards were created to give greater visibility to local artists and artists who have made Ibiza their creative home.

The awards form part of Ocean Drive's wider cultural programme, with its hotels hosting exhibitions, concerts, talks and other activities throughout the year.

That programme creates opportunities for artists to present their work while bringing residents and visitors into contact with Ibiza's contemporary creative scene.

Art and Sustainability

The 2026 theme gave the awards a particularly strong connection with sustainability.

Rather than treating discarded materials simply as waste, the participating artists were encouraged to consider how they could become the starting point for new creative work.

The approach was reflected in the event itself, from the competition's theme to the clay pieces created by Laura Huguet Nonó for guests.

The concept also provided a broader reflection on Ibiza, where the intense seasonal rhythm of consumption creates ongoing questions about what can be reused, repaired and given a second life.

A Growing Part of Ibiza's Cultural Calendar

The ninth edition of the OD Art Awards demonstrates the increasingly diverse nature of Ibiza's cultural calendar.

While the island remains internationally known for its music and nightlife, contemporary art, design, exhibitions and creative initiatives have become an important part of its cultural offer.

Events such as the OD Art Awards provide a meeting point between established artists, emerging creators, residents, visitors and businesses supporting the island's creative community.

The 2026 edition brought that community together around a simple idea: repair does not necessarily mean returning something to its original state. It can also mean transforming it into something new.
