A Mercedes Vito operating as a VTC service for Uber overturned early Friday morning on the road to Cala Vadella in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

The accident happened at around 6:00am on September 25, 2026, after the van left the road and collided with a stone embankment before overturning onto its left side.

The driver was travelling alone and suffered minor injuries.

Accident on the Cala Vadella road

According to the initial information, the Mercedes Vito was travelling along the Cala Vadella road when it left the right-hand side of the carriageway.

The front-right section of the vehicle struck a stone embankment, causing the van to overturn onto its left side and come to rest partly across the road.

The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, with the side airbag deployed and broken glass scattered across the road.

Driver suffers minor injuries

The driver was the only person in the van at the time of the accident.

He suffered minor injuries, with initial reports indicating contusions to the left arm and head.

There were no reports of other occupants being injured.

Guardia Civil investigates

Several patrols from the Guardia Civil Traffic unit attended the scene.

The circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave the road remain under investigation.

At this stage, there is no confirmed information establishing why the van left the carriageway, so no specific cause of the accident can be stated.

Vehicle recovered from the road

Two recovery teams from Grúas Ibiza also attended the scene.

A crane truck was used to return the van to an upright position before it was removed from the road.

The teams also cleared debris and broken glass from the carriageway.

Temporary traffic restrictions

The road to Cala Vadella was partially restricted while the emergency and recovery teams worked at the scene.

Normal traffic was restored after the vehicle was removed and the road had been cleared.

The accident caused considerable damage to the VTC vehicle, but the driver was reported to have suffered only minor injuries.

The Guardia Civil Traffic unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
