Art and environmental awareness come together in Formentera this weekend with the Balearic Recycled Art Exhibition, a collective showcase featuring 14 artists from across the Balearic Islands.

The exhibition is being held at the Centre Antoni Tur ‘Gabrielet’ in Sant Francesc and forms part of the wider Qué Celeste programme focused on environmental conservation, participation and culture.

The participating artists come from Formentera, Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, with five artists from Formentera, five from Mallorca, two from Menorca and two from Ibiza.

Their works transform recovered materials into art, including plastics and debris collected from beaches, reused glass, old sails and fishing nets. The exhibition explores how materials that might otherwise be discarded can be given a new purpose through sculpture, craft and visual art.

The exhibition opened on Sunday, September 20 and remains open through Sunday, September 27. Admission is free.
