Residents of Can Bonet in Sant Antoni are again calling on the local authorities to take action over the impact they say large events at 528 are having on their neighbourhood.

The Can Bonet Residents’ Association has asked Sant Antoni Town Hall to carry out inspections and checks following another high-attendance event on Wednesday, September 23.

According to the association, the event was accompanied by a significant increase in vehicles and pedestrians on the streets around the residential area.

Residents report traffic congestion

The residents say the situation has been repeated during recent summer seasons whenever 528 holds events expected to attract large crowds.

The residents say the latest situation was particularly frustrating because they have raised similar concerns with the municipality in previous years.

Their complaints relate primarily to traffic, access to homes and the wider impact of large events on the residential neighbourhood.

Calls for checks on capacity and opening hours

The residents’ association is now asking Sant Antoni Town Hall to carry out the necessary inspections both inside 528 and in the surrounding area.

In particular, they want authorities to check compliance with the venue's permitted capacity and operating hours.

The request does not establish that 528 exceeded its authorised capacity or opening hours during the September 23 event. Those are matters for the relevant authorities to inspect and determine.

Complaints have continued for several seasons

The latest complaint follows earlier concerns raised by Can Bonet residents.

In July 2024, residents reported problems including vehicles parked on pavements, difficulties moving through the streets and instances of people urinating in public areas.

Similar complaints returned after 528 opened for the 2026 season on April 25.

In April, residents reported traffic congestion around the neighbourhood and raised concerns about private personnel managing traffic and placing barriers on public roads.

The municipality has also had the issue raised formally. Its transparency portal records a 2026 control motion from the Sant Antoni Socialist group concerning the expected parties at 528 and the use of private security on public roads.

528's location and access

528 Ibiza is located on Carrer del Romaní, just outside Sant Antoni in the Benimussa area.

The venue advises visitors that driving is not recommended and says parking on surrounding roads is not permitted. It provides on-site parking for some events and operates free shuttle buses to Sant Antoni Bus Station at the end of events.

The venue also asks guests to respect its neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum and disposing of rubbish in the designated bins when leaving.

A recurring neighbourhood issue

The latest dispute is not the first time Can Bonet residents have raised concerns about the effects of events at 528.

In May 2026, residents also described traffic saturation and other disturbances around the venue during a large event. Local reporting at the time recorded complaints about access, noise, arguments and waste in the surrounding streets.

The residents' latest request is therefore focused on inspections and enforcement rather than on preventing events from taking place.

They are asking the municipality to ensure that permitted capacity, operating hours and conditions outside the venue are respected, while also seeking measures to prevent the consequences of large events from being transferred to the surrounding residential streets.

What happens next

Any determination about whether the venue complied with its licence or other applicable requirements would have to come from the competent authorities following the relevant inspections.

For now, the September 23 incident remains a complaint from residents about the impact they say the event had on Can Bonet.

The latest request puts renewed attention on the challenge of managing large-scale events while maintaining access and quality of life in the residential area surrounding 528.
