A routine police intervention over a badly parked car in Ibiza has led to the arrest of a man after officers discovered almost 15 grams of suspected illegal drugs, €275 in cash and other items inside the vehicle.

The incident began during a routine patrol when officers from the Policía Local de Ibiza spotted a car parked incorrectly in a public area and approached the driver to ask him to move it.

Driver's Behaviour Raises Police Suspicion

According to the police account, officers noticed that the driver appeared highly nervous and gave inconsistent answers about why he was in the area.

The officers then carried out a further check within their legal powers.

During the initial intervention, the driver voluntarily handed over two small packages containing a powdered substance which he said was cocaine.

More Drugs Found Inside the Vehicle

A subsequent search of the car uncovered additional substances hidden in different compartments.

Police seized approximately 9.9 grams of cocaine divided into several individual packages and around 4.8 grams of tusi, a substance often referred to as "pink cocaine".

The search also uncovered two sildenafil tablets, €275 in cash in different denominations and two mobile phones, which were taken for further investigation.

Arrested on Suspicion of a Public-Health Offence

The man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against public health.

After the police procedures were completed, he was handed over to the Policía Nacional together with the substances, cash and other items seized during the intervention.

An arrest and allegation do not establish guilt, which can only be determined through the judicial process.

Positive Drug Test

Police also carried out a drug-consumption test on the man during the operation.

The test returned a positive result for the consumption of several substances.

This is separate from the suspected possession of the drugs found in the vehicle and does not, by itself, establish that he was driving under the influence at the time of the intervention.

A Routine Traffic Check Turns Into a Drug Investigation

The case began with a relatively minor parking issue but developed into a drug-related police investigation after officers became concerned about the driver's behaviour.

The Policía Local has highlighted the intervention as an example of how routine patrols and preventative checks can uncover suspected criminal activity.

Almost 15 Grams of Drugs Seized

The quantities officially reported amount to approximately 14.7 grams across the cocaine and tusi seized, in addition to the other items found in the vehicle.

The investigation has now been passed to the Policía Nacional, which will take the case forward and determine the next steps in the judicial process.

For now, the confirmed sequence is straightforward: a badly parked car prompted a routine police check, the driver voluntarily handed over suspected cocaine, and a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of additional suspected drugs, cash and other items.
