A driver had to be rescued by firefighters on Saturday morning after losing control of a vehicle on the EI-300 road between Ibiza Town and Sant Joan de Labritja.

The accident happened at around 9:20am, when the driver of a Range Rover Evoque travelling alone left the road and collided heavily with the right-hand side of the carriageway.

Vehicle Rolled Around 50 Metres

The impact was severe.

The vehicle struck and crushed the roadside guardrail, ripping away the car's front-right axle.

It then rolled several times over a distance of approximately 50 metres before coming to rest upside down on the road, with all four wheels facing upwards and the vehicle occupying almost both lanes.

Driver Trapped Inside

Despite the seriousness of the crash, the driver remained conscious and suffered only bruising and minor cuts, according to the information released after the accident.

However, the damage to the vehicle left the driver trapped inside the passenger compartment.

Two crews from the Ibiza Fire Service attended and carried out an extrication operation to free the driver safely from the wreckage.

Taken to Hospital

Once the driver had been freed, medical personnel from SAMU 061 provided initial treatment at the scene.

The injured person was then transported by ambulance to hospital for further medical assessment.

No other occupants were involved in the crash.

Guardia Civil Investigates

Traffic officers from the Guardia Civil attended the scene and took charge of the official report and investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

The exact cause of the driver losing control has not been established.

Officers also managed traffic in the area while the emergency operation was taking place.

Road Cleared

The crash left debris scattered across the roadway and required additional work before normal traffic could resume.

Crews from Xarxa Viària cleared the debris from the road, while two roadside-assistance teams from Grúas Ibiza used a crane to remove the damaged Range Rover.

Traffic was subsequently restored once the vehicle and debris had been cleared.

A Dramatic Crash Without Life-Threatening Injuries

The accident caused substantial damage to the vehicle and roadside infrastructure and required a full emergency response.

The driver's survival without reported loss of consciousness or life-threatening injuries is notable given the distance the vehicle rolled and the extent of the damage.

The Guardia Civil Traffic Division will continue investigating the circumstances of the crash on the EI-300 between Ibiza and Sant Joan.
