Cáritas Diocesana de Ibiza and Formentera will bring together professionals and businesses from across the Pityusic Islands next week for a dedicated event exploring the relationship between mental health and employment.

The ‘Salud Mental y Empleo’ or ‘Mental Health and Employment’ day will take place on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, from 09:00 to 14:30 at Cáritas’ new facilities at Can Pep Xico, located at kilometre 5.2 on the Ibiza to Sant Antoni road.

The event is designed to raise awareness of the connection between emotional wellbeing and employment processes, while giving participants an opportunity to learn more about Cáritas’ employment work.

A Morning Focused on Mental Health and Employment

The programme will begin with a presentation of the Cáritas Employment Programme, introducing participants to the organisation’s work supporting people through employment and social integration processes.

The event will also include a reading of the manifesto marking Decent Work Day, placing employment conditions and access to work within the wider social context addressed by the organisation.

One of the main sessions will focus specifically on the impact of emotional distress during socio-labour integration processes.

Presentation by Cáritas Psychologist

The presentation will be delivered by Sonia Campos, a psychologist working in Alternating Training and Employment Pathways at Cáritas Girona.

Her session will examine the impact that emotional distress can have during processes aimed at social and labour integration.

The topic is particularly relevant to employment professionals and companies because successful access to work can involve factors extending beyond professional skills and experience.

The session will provide participants with an opportunity to consider these issues from the perspective of professionals working directly with employment and integration programmes.

Interactive Activities and Discussion

The event will also include practical activities rather than relying solely on presentations.

Participants will take part in a group awareness exercise using a series of gymkhana-style activities designed to encourage discussion and reflection.

Discussion tables will then allow participants to exchange views and experiences around the issues raised during the day.

This format is intended to encourage direct participation from both professionals and businesses attending the event.

Supporting Employment and Social Integration

Cáritas’ employment work forms part of its wider support for people experiencing difficulties accessing the labour market.

The organisation provides employment and training support through its network of diocesan Cáritas organisations, with services designed to help people develop pathways towards employment and greater social integration.

In Ibiza and Formentera, the focus of the event is to bring these issues into discussion with professionals and companies operating across the islands.

Support From European and Balearic Institutions

The project behind the event receives support and co-financing from the European Social Fund, the Govern de les Illes Balears and Spain’s state IRPF funding programme.

This places the initiative within a wider framework of employment, social inclusion and support programmes operating at European, regional and national levels.
