Coaches and athletes from Ibiza and Formentera took part in a specialist training session on Saturday, 26 September, designed to strengthen technical and methodological skills within the martial arts community.

The course was held at the facilities of the Federació Balear de Kickboxing in Ibiza and was led by Juan José Albuixech, an experienced kickboxing trainer and educator with more than four decades in the sport.

A day focused on coach development

The session combined theoretical content with practical exercises, giving participating coaches the opportunity to explore new techniques, approaches and training tools that they can apply in their own sessions.

Athletes from Ibiza and Formentera also took part, allowing the practical elements of the course to be worked through directly rather than focusing exclusively on classroom-based instruction.

The programme was centred on technical and methodological aspects of martial-arts training, with the participants able to exchange knowledge and experiences throughout the day.

Juan José Albuixech brings more than 40 years of experience

Albuixech has been involved in the teaching, practice and development of martial arts and kickboxing since the 1980s.

The Federación Española de Kickboxing y Muaythai lists him as a CN 8th-degree kickboxing holder and as a member of its grading committee. The federation has also recognised his career and contribution to the sport, describing him as a trainer, educator, writer and promoter with more than 40 years of professional experience.

His work has included training athletes and instructors, as well as publishing educational material about kickboxing and its technical and tactical development.

Known in martial arts circles as a “master of masters”

The course organiser's profile describes Albuixech as a recognised teacher and reference within martial arts, noting that his long experience in training professionals has led to him being known in martial-arts circles as the “master of masters”.

His reputation is closely linked to his long-standing role as an instructor and educator, with his work extending beyond individual training to the development of other coaches.

Practical learning for Ibiza and Formentera

The presence of both coaches and athletes made the session an opportunity for practical learning as well as professional exchange.

For the participating trainers, the objective was to take new ideas and technical knowledge back into their regular work with athletes. The athletes, meanwhile, were able to participate directly in exercises and demonstrations during the session.

Continuing education in martial arts

The organisers highlighted the importance of continued education for coaches as part of the ongoing development of athletes and the wider martial-arts community in Ibiza and Formentera.

Training sessions of this kind provide an opportunity for local professionals to learn from experienced figures in the sport while also creating a space for coaches and athletes from the islands to share knowledge.
