Ibiza Local Police carried out a night-time inspection operation at several leisure and commercial establishments in the city between September 24 and 25, resulting in the provisional closure of one leisure venue in the ses Figueretes area.

The operation involved Local Police officers, municipal technicians from the Environment and Activities departments and Customs officers. The inspections focused on compliance with activity and safety regulations, noise levels and matters falling under Customs' responsibilities.

Deficiencies Found at Calle Navarra Venue

At the establishment on Calle Navarra, inspectors identified several deficiencies relating to the operation and safety conditions of the premises.

The entrance and exit doors were found not to be functioning correctly and had deficiencies in their emergency panic systems. Inspectors also found that the electrical panel was not properly signposted.

The inspection further found that the music exceeded the conditions established in the documentation governing the activity. Some emergency lights in the toilets were also not functioning correctly and lacked the required signage.

The establishment was already the subject of a number of complaints from local residents, according to the police information released following the operation.

Activity Suspended Until Deficiencies Are Corrected

Following the inspection, officers and municipal technicians drew up an activities report and imposed a provisional closure of the establishment.

The operator was informed that the activity cannot resume until the deficiencies identified during the inspection have been corrected.

This is therefore a provisional suspension of the activity rather than a permanent closure of the business.

Two Other Establishments Inspected

Police and municipal officials also inspected a commercial establishment on Calle Formentera that sells drinks.

Documentation and the products being sold were checked, with no irregularities detected by either the municipal technicians or Customs officers.

A separate inspection took place at an establishment on the Passeig de Vara de Rey to assess noise levels.

A municipal technician carried out sound-level measurements from a nearby residence. The initial measurements did not indicate that the permitted levels had been exceeded, although the recorded data still needs to be analysed before a definitive result is issued. Customs officers also reported no incidents during that inspection.

Part of Ongoing Night-Time Inspections

The Ibiza Town Hall describes these operations as part of the Local Police's continuing preventive and inspection work, particularly during night-time hours.

The objective is to check regulatory compliance, the safety of establishments and their users, and residents' right to rest.

The latest operation involved three establishments and resulted in one provisional suspension of activity, while the other two inspections did not produce confirmed irregularities at the time of the checks.
