Sant Antoni de Portmany has begun installing reserved parking spaces for pharmacy customers, giving people a dedicated place to make short stops while collecting medicines and other pharmacy products.

The municipal works were carried out during the past week following the definitive approval of a modification to the town's Traffic, Circulation and Road Safety Ordinance earlier this year. The change created the legal framework for pharmacies to request reserved parking spaces outside or close to their establishments.

Free Parking for Up to 15 Minutes

The reserved spaces are intended for short stops of a maximum of 15 minutes.

They can be used free of charge during the pharmacy's normal opening hours or while the pharmacy is operating as the designated duty pharmacy.

Outside those periods, the spaces can be used for general parking.

The spaces are marked with a green cross on a white background painted on the road. Vertical signs identify the pharmacy to which the space corresponds and indicate the permitted hours and maximum parking time.

Three Pharmacies Already Have Reserved Spaces

The first reserved spaces have been installed for pharmacies on:

• Carrer de Ramón y Cajal

• Carrer de Balanzat

• Avinguda d'Isidor Macabich

These pharmacies requested the installation from Sant Antoni Town Hall.

The ordinance allows each pharmacy to request one reserved space. The proposed location must receive a favourable report from the Local Police to establish that the space is suitable, and the Town Hall has a maximum of two months to resolve the application.

Designed to Improve Access to Pharmacies

The measure is intended to make it easier for customers to stop briefly when collecting medicines or other products, while also ensuring that the reserved spaces remain available for short, high-turnover use.

The initiative follows an agreement approved by the municipal council to incorporate pharmacy parking reservations into the town's traffic and parking regulations.

For customers, the new spaces provide a clearly marked option for quick pharmacy visits without creating a permanent restriction on the parking space outside the pharmacy's designated operating hours.
