Ibiza Local Police have provisionally closed an entertainment venue in Figueretes after an overnight inspection found several deficiencies involving safety systems, emergency lighting and noise levels.

The inspection took place during the night of September 24 to 25 as part of a joint operation involving Ibiza Local Police, municipal Environment and Activities technicians and Customs officers.

Three establishments were inspected across Ibiza Town.

Safety deficiencies found in Calle Navarra

The establishment on Calle Navarra, in Figueretes, was found to have several deficiencies during the inspection.

According to the municipal information, the entrance and exit doors were not functioning correctly and had deficiencies in their panic systems.

Inspectors also found that the electrical panel was not properly signposted and that some emergency lights in the bathrooms were not working correctly and lacked the required signage.

The music level was also above the conditions established in the documentation governing the establishment's activity.

The venue was already the subject of numerous complaints from local residents, according to the information released following the inspection.

Provisional closure until deficiencies are corrected

Following the inspection, an Activities report was issued and the Local Police adopted the provisional closure of the activity.

The person responsible for the establishment was informed that the activity cannot resume until the deficiencies identified during the inspection have been corrected.

This is a provisional administrative measure. The available information does not establish a permanent closure of the venue.

Two other establishments inspected

The operation also covered a drinks retailer on Calle Formentera.

Documentation and the products being sold were checked, with no irregularities detected by either the municipal technicians or Customs officers.

A third establishment on Passeig de Vara de Rey was inspected specifically for noise.

A municipal technician carried out sound-level measurements from a nearby home. The initial measurement did not indicate that permitted noise limits had been exceeded, but the recorded data still has to be analysed before a definitive result can be established.

Customs officers also found no incidents at that establishment.

Joint inspections continue

Ibiza Town Hall said these operations form part of the Local Police's ongoing preventive and inspection work, particularly during nighttime hours.

The municipality said the aim is to check compliance with regulations, safety conditions at establishments and the right of residents to rest.

The latest operation also involved coordination between Local Police, municipal technical services and Customs, allowing different aspects of an establishment's activity to be checked during the same inspection.

For now, the Calle Navarra venue remains closed pending correction of the deficiencies identified during the inspection.
