Ibiza Holiday Rental Congress 2026 to Address Tourism Planning, Sustainability and AI on October 27

October 15, 2026

Ibiza’s holiday-rental sector will come together on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, for the 12th Ibiza Holiday Rental Congress at Hotel Torre del Mar in Platja d’en Bossa. The annual industry gathering will bring tourism professionals, business representatives and specialists together to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the island’s visitor accommodation market.

Organised by the Association of Holiday Rental Accommodation (AVAT) and the Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Association of Ibiza and Formentera (Pimeef), this year’s congress will focus on family tourism, sustainability, tourism planning, market developments and the growing role of artificial intelligence in the tourism industry.

The programme is scheduled to run from the morning until 19:30, with presentations, panel discussions and networking breaks throughout the day.

Morning Sessions to Explore Family Tourism and Sustainability

Registration and guest arrivals are scheduled to begin at 09:45, ahead of the official opening at 10:00. José Antonio Llano of AVAT and Vicent Marí, president of Ibiza Island Council, are due to participate in the opening proceedings.

At 10:15, the first panel, Family Tourism: A Strategic Opportunity for Ibiza, will examine the role holiday-rental accommodation can play in meeting the needs of families visiting the island.

The discussion is scheduled to include Juan Miguel Costa, Ibiza’s director of tourism; José Antonio Llano of AVAT; Luis Falcón of InAtlas; and Carmen Sarah Einsle of the University of Alicante. The panel will consider how accommodation options can respond to family travel requirements while contributing to Ibiza’s wider tourism economy.

A coffee and networking break is planned for 11:30. The congress will resume at noon with Sustainability and Competitiveness in Tourist Accommodation, featuring Alessandro Gallo of Green Key Spain and Sally Riera of IbizaPreservation.

The session will address sustainability as a potential competitive advantage, ways to reduce tourism’s environmental impact, circular-economy principles and the changing regulatory and market expectations facing accommodation providers.

Tourism Planning and the Future of Holiday Rentals

At 13:15, Mariano Juan, first vice-president of Ibiza Island Council and councillor responsible for Territory, Tourism Planning, Mobility, Road Infrastructure and Tackling Illegal Activity, is scheduled to deliver a presentation on tourism planning and the future of the sector.

His address will focus on the Tourism Areas Intervention Plan, known as PIAT, the management of tourist accommodation places, regulatory challenges and possible future scenarios for holiday rentals on the island.

The presentation will also address efforts to tackle illegal tourist accommodation, an important issue in Ibiza’s wider debate about tourism management and the regulation of visitor accommodation.

The morning programme is scheduled to conclude at 14:00, before the congress resumes in the afternoon.

Afternoon Programme to Examine Market Trends

The afternoon session begins at 16:30 with The Future of the Sector and the Evolution of Ibiza’s Holiday Rental Market.

The panel is scheduled to feature Clive Heathcote of AVAT, Elena Short of Holidu, James Kinnersly of AirDNA and Juan Franch Fluxá of the University of the Balearic Islands.

The discussion will examine the current state of the holiday-rental market using industry data, alongside perspectives on how the sector may develop in the coming years. The session will offer an opportunity to consider market performance, changing visitor behaviour and the factors influencing accommodation demand in Ibiza.

A second coffee and networking break is planned for 17:45, ahead of the congress’s final main discussion.

Artificial Intelligence and Tourism’s Digital Transformation

At 18:15, the programme turns to technology with a panel entitled Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of the Tourism Sector.

The speakers are scheduled to include Fabián González, a consultant at Andersen Consulting, and Joan Barceló of World2Meet.

The discussion will explore how generative artificial intelligence is changing customer service and tourism operations. Topics include process automation, AI-supported revenue management, personalised marketing and the opportunities and regulatory risks associated with the technology.

As tourism businesses increasingly explore digital tools, the session will consider how AI may influence efficiency, customer relationships and the way travel services are delivered.

The congress is scheduled to conclude with final conclusions and closing remarks at 19:30.
