Sant Josep Launches New Season of Activities From Robotics to Yoga

September 10, 2026

Sant Josep de sa Talaia is preparing a new programme of cultural, educational and sporting activities for residents of all ages during the 2026-2027 season.

The municipality will once again offer its two main community programmes, Sant Josep Actiu and Gaudeix a Sant Josep, bringing classes and workshops ranging from ceramics and painting to robotics, circus, yoga and functional training.

The activities will take place across different population centres and municipal facilities, with the programme designed to provide opportunities for children, adults and people over 65 to learn new skills, stay active and take part in community life.

Sant Josep Actiu Returns in October

The main Sant Josep Actiu programme will begin during the week of October 5, 2026 and will continue until June 30, 2027 at the latest, depending on the duration and number of hours assigned to each course.

The programme combines cultural, educational and sporting activities for both children and adults.

For adults, the cultural programme includes ceramics, furniture restoration, painting and drawing, as well as English and dressmaking courses.

Residents will also be able to continue with face-to-face Catalan classes at different levels, alongside computer courses, Spanish classes for newcomers and basic education options.

The variety of subjects reflects the municipality's aim to offer activities that are useful, creative and accessible beyond the traditional school environment.

Robotics and Circus for Children

Younger residents will have access to a selection of activities designed to combine creativity, learning and practical skills.

The children's programme includes drawing and painting, ceramics, robotics and circus, together with Play and Learn in English and rehearsals for traditional island dance.

Several of these activities were already part of the previous edition and are returning for the new school year following demand from local families.

The inclusion of robotics is particularly notable as technology-based activities continue to become a more common part of extracurricular education, giving children the opportunity to develop problem-solving and creative skills in a practical setting.

Yoga, Pilates and Functional Training

The sports programme is designed to encourage regular physical activity and support general wellbeing.

Among the activities on offer are yoga, Pilates, stretching and functional training, with sessions distributed across different parts of the municipality.

The programme is intended to make exercise easier to incorporate into everyday life, with options aimed at different interests and levels of activity.

Sant Josep's Sports Department has emphasised the importance of providing a varied programme that allows residents to remain active close to where they live.

Activities Spread Across the Municipality

One of the defining features of the programme is its distribution across different population centres rather than concentrating all activities in Sant Josep village.

Courses and workshops will be held in municipal facilities and other local spaces, allowing residents from different areas of the municipality to participate without having to travel to a single central location.

The programme includes activities in places such as Sant Josep, Sant Jordi and Sant Agustí, with additional sessions organised in other areas depending on the activity.

This approach forms part of the municipality's broader effort to encourage participation across its different communities.

Registration Opens in Stages

Places for Sant Josep Actiu will not all open for registration at the same time.

Adult cultural activities will open for registration on Monday, September 14, at 8am.

Children's cultural activities will follow on Tuesday, September 15, also at 8am.

Adult sports activities will open on Wednesday, September 16, at 8am.

Registration will be carried out online through the Sant Josep Town Hall website.

For adult cultural and sports activities, places will be allocated in order of registration, with priority given to people registered as residents of Sant Josep.

Children's cultural activities will use a draw to allocate places, again giving priority to residents of the municipality.

A Dedicated Programme for Residents Over 65

Alongside Sant Josep Actiu, the municipality is bringing back Gaudeix a Sant Josep, a programme specifically aimed at people aged over 65.

The initiative focuses on active and healthy ageing and will offer more than 320 free places during the 2026-2027 season.

Activities include digital skills, cognitive stimulation, line dancing, gymnastics and yoga.

Sessions will be available in Sant Josep, Cala de Bou, Sant Jordi and Sant Agustí, giving older residents several options depending on where they live.

The programme is intended not only to encourage physical activity but also to create opportunities for social interaction, continued learning and greater digital independence.

Free Places for Active Ageing

Registration for Gaudeix a Sant Josep opened on September 9 and will remain available until September 18.

Applications can be made in person at the Social Services offices between 9am and 1pm or through the corresponding online form provided by the Town Hall.

The programme's free places make it one of the municipality's more accessible community initiatives, particularly for residents who may be looking for regular activities without the cost associated with private classes.

Encouraging Creativity and Lifelong Learning

The overall programme reflects an approach that goes beyond traditional sports and leisure activities.

For children, activities such as robotics, ceramics and circus combine creativity with learning. For adults, language courses, computing, painting and practical workshops provide opportunities to develop new skills or return to interests they may have previously put aside.

For older residents, the focus shifts towards maintaining independence, physical activity, cognitive stimulation and social connection.

The result is a broad programme that covers very different stages of life while keeping the activities rooted in local communities.

Culture, Education and Wellbeing in One Programme

Councillor for Culture Maria José Ríos has described Sant Josep Actiu as an initiative designed to provide cultural and educational opportunities for all ages, while Sports Councillor Xicu Ribas has highlighted the role of physical activity in supporting health and wellbeing.

The municipality's Social Services, Family and Equality councillor, Marilina Serra, has similarly emphasised active ageing as an important part of maintaining quality of life for older residents.

Together, the three areas demonstrate the municipality's intention to combine culture, education, sport and social participation within its annual activities programme.

A New Season Begins This Autumn

The 2026-2027 programme comes into effect as Ibiza moves into the autumn season, providing residents with alternatives to the predominantly summer-focused activities associated with the island.

Classes will begin in October and continue through the academic year, creating a longer-term calendar of activities for local communities.

With options ranging from children's robotics and circus to adult ceramics, languages, yoga and fitness, and free programmes for residents over 65, Sant Josep is once again placing community activities at the centre of its autumn and winter schedule.

For residents looking to learn something new, stay active or simply find a regular activity close to home, registration dates begin this week, with places allocated according to the rules established for each part of the programme.
