Can Blau Music School in Ibiza Adds Baby Music and New String Instrument Classes

October 06, 2026

The Can Blau Music School in Sant Josep has expanded its educational programme for the 2026-27 academic year with two new specialities, giving younger children and aspiring instrumentalists more opportunities to study music.

The new courses are music for babies, aimed at children from 0 to 3 years old, and bowed-string instruments, expanding the school's instrumental training. The changes form part of an effort by the Sant Josep Town Hall and Can Blau Music School to broaden access to music education.

Music for Babies from 0 to 3

The new baby-music programme introduces musical activity from the earliest years of childhood.

The course is specifically designed for children aged 0 to 3 and currently has 10 places available.

Registration remains open and places are still available. Families interested in joining can find information and complete the enrolment process through the Can Blau Music School website.

The Sant Josep Town Hall says the aim is to give families more ways to introduce children to music from an early age while making the school's educational offer accessible to a wider range of ages.

Violin, Viola and Cello

The second new speciality introduces bowed-string instruments to Can Blau's programme.

The new groups include violin, viola and cello.

According to the school, the response has been strong and all available places for these instruments have already been filled for the current academic year.

The addition expands the range of instrumental education available at Can Blau and gives students the opportunity to begin learning instruments that were not previously part of the school's offer.

Changes to the School's Programme

The expansion follows joint work between Can Blau Music School and the Sant Josep Department of Culture.

The municipality has also adapted the regulatory framework governing the school to allow the new specialities to be incorporated.

Changes to the school's tax ordinance and internal regulations were previously approved by the municipal plenary.

Councillor for Culture, Education and Heritage María José Ríos said the new programmes are intended to give families more options for introducing their children to music from a young age while expanding instrumental training at Can Blau.

Music Education from an Early Age

The addition of music for babies represents the earliest age group currently highlighted in Can Blau's new programme, while the violin, viola and cello courses broaden the school's instrumental options.

Together, the two additions cover very different stages of musical development, from early musical discovery for children aged 0 to 3 through to structured instrumental learning.

For families in Sant Josep, enrolment for the baby-music programme remains open, while the newly introduced bowed-string groups have already reached capacity for the 2026-27 academic year.
