Ibiza to Celebrate Folk Traditions with Music and Dance Parade on October 11

October 06, 2026

Ibiza will celebrate an evening of music, dance and traditional culture on Sunday, October 11, when the XXIV Muestra Folclórica Ciudad de Ibiza brings together folk groups from Tenerife, Palencia and Ibiza.

The annual event will combine a street parade with live performances, giving the public the opportunity to experience traditional music, dance, costumes and instruments from different parts of Spain alongside Ibiza’s own cultural heritage.

Parade from Ses Figueretes to Can Ventosa

The programme begins at 17:30 with a traditional parade departing from Plaça Julià Verdera in ses Figueretes.

The participating groups will make their way through the city towards Can Ventosa, bringing their music and traditional costumes into the streets before the main performances begin.

The three participating groups are the Parranda Chaboco from Tenerife, the Agrupación Folklórica El Cristo from Palencia and Ibiza’s own Colla Sa Bodega, which is hosting this year’s edition.

Free Performances at Can Ventosa

Once the parade reaches Can Ventosa, performances are scheduled to begin at 18:00.

Admission is free, making the event accessible to residents and visitors interested in discovering different forms of traditional Spanish and Ibizan culture.

The programme will showcase the contrasting musical and dance traditions of the Canary Islands, Castilla y León and Ibiza through each group’s own repertoire, instruments and traditional clothing.

Parranda Chaboco Brings Tenerife Folklore

Representing Tenerife will be Parranda Chaboco, a folk group from Pinolere in the upper part of the La Orotava Valley.

Founded in 2009, the group has 26 members of different ages and works to preserve and promote the traditional culture of the Canary Islands.

Its name refers to the old water mills associated with the production of gofio, an important element of Canarian food culture.

The group has performed across the Canary Islands and released its first recording, De Parranda, in 2014.

Traditional Music from Palencia

The Agrupación Folklórica El Cristo will represent Palencia and the wider traditions of Castilla y León.

The group was founded in 1989 within the Colegio Juan Mena de la Cruz before later becoming an independent association.

Its repertoire includes jotas, dances, ligeros and polcas, drawing on traditions from different parts of Palencia, including Tierra de Campos, El Cerrato, La Vega and the northern part of the province.

The group also includes pandereteras and a vocal ensemble.

Ibiza’s Own Colla Sa Bodega

The local representation comes from Colla Sa Bodega, an Ibiza folk group founded in 1987 through the AMIPA of the Sa Bodega public school.

The group now operates independently while maintaining its connection with the school, where it has its headquarters.

With around 30 members, Sa Bodega works to preserve and promote Ibiza’s traditional culture through dance, music, crafts and traditional dress.

Its activities extend beyond performances. The group also provides classes for children and adults in traditional dance and instruments including castanets, drum, s’espasí, flute and marine horn.

It also supports the preservation of traditional clothing and crafts through workshops and the work of its artisan members.

A Celebration of Popular Culture

The Muestra Folclórica Ciudad de Ibiza has been held annually since 2001, creating a meeting point for traditional groups from Ibiza and other parts of Spain.

The event allows different regional traditions to share the same stage while highlighting the importance of maintaining local music, dance, clothing and craftsmanship.

For Ibiza, the participation of Colla Sa Bodega places the island’s own heritage at the centre of an event that also introduces audiences to traditions from other Spanish regions.

The XXIV Muestra Folclórica Ciudad de Ibiza takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The parade begins at 17:30 at Plaça Julià Verdera in ses Figueretes, followed by free performances at Can Ventosa from 18:00.
