Content Creator Surprised by Ibiza’s Older Nightlife Crowd

October 06, 2026

A content creator has shared her surprise at seeing so many older people enjoying Ibiza's nightlife, challenging the idea that the island's famous dancefloors are exclusively the territory of younger clubbers.

In a video shared on Instagram, the creator behind @bustoscandee described being surprised by the number of older adults she encountered while going out in Ibiza.

Her comments quickly drew attention because they highlighted one of the less frequently discussed aspects of the island's nightlife: people of different generations sharing the same dancefloors.

“I Was Really Surprised”

The creator explained that before visiting Ibiza, she had expected the island's clubs to be dominated by people in their twenties and thirties.

Instead, she said she repeatedly noticed older people enjoying the music and nightlife.

She described seeing what she referred to as “your aunt” or “your grandfather” out enjoying techno alongside younger clubbers.

Rather than criticising what she saw, she said she loved the experience.

For her, seeing people continue to enjoy nightlife regardless of age challenged assumptions about who is expected to go dancing.

Ibiza Beyond Age Stereotypes

Her reaction touches on something that has long been part of Ibiza's clubbing identity.

The island's electronic music culture has developed over several generations, with many people who discovered Ibiza's nightlife decades ago continuing to return to the island and its clubs.

At the same time, younger generations continue to arrive for their first Ibiza experiences.

The result can be a notably mixed crowd, particularly at large electronic music events where the music itself becomes the common connection between different age groups.

However, the creator's video represents her personal experience rather than a scientific assessment of the age profile of Ibiza's nightlife.

“Why Do We Put Ages on Going Out?”

One of the central points in the video is her rejection of the idea that there should be an age limit for enjoying nightlife.

She questioned why someone should feel that turning 40, or reaching another particular age, means they should stop going out.

Her conclusion was simple: people should be able to continue enjoying themselves and dancing if they want to.

She described the atmosphere she encountered in Ibiza as something she found particularly positive.

A Different Side of Ibiza's Club Culture

Ibiza's international reputation is often built around its biggest DJs, superclubs and younger holiday crowds.

But the island's nightlife audience is more varied than that stereotype suggests.

Long-time clubbers, local residents, returning visitors and younger travellers can all find themselves sharing the same dancefloor.

That intergenerational element is part of what makes the island's nightlife distinctive, even if it is rarely the focus of promotional campaigns or social-media coverage.

For the creator behind the viral video, discovering that reality was one of the unexpected highlights of her Ibiza experience.

Her message was ultimately less about age and more about enjoying life without unnecessary limits.

As she put it, there is no reason to assume that reaching a certain age means giving up the things that make you happy.

In Ibiza, it seems, the dancefloor does not come with an age limit.
