Summer-like conditions are returning to much of Spain as high pressure brings a period of more settled weather and rising temperatures during the final days of September.

Temperatures are expected to exceed 35°C in parts of the country, although the highest values will be concentrated in specific areas rather than across Spain as a whole.

High Pressure Brings More Stable Weather

The change follows a period of unsettled Mediterranean weather that brought heavy rain and thunderstorms to parts of eastern Spain and the Balearic Islands.

AEMET is now forecasting a much more stable pattern, with largely clear or lightly clouded skies across much of the country.

The improvement is particularly noticeable after the recent spell of storms affecting parts of the Mediterranean.

Temperatures Above 35°C Possible

AEMET forecasts that maximum temperatures will rise in much of the northern half of the Peninsula on Monday, September 21.

Temperatures above 35°C are possible in some of the southwestern depressions, as well as in parts of Galicia and low-lying areas of Catalonia.

The highest temperatures are therefore expected in specific inland areas rather than across the country generally.

32°C to 34°C Possible Later in the Week

The warmer pattern is expected to continue beyond Monday.

The current forecast points to widespread maximum temperatures above 30°C in parts of Spain, with values of around 32°C to 34°C possible in some areas as the week progresses.

The late-September weather is therefore expected to remain noticeably warmer than might normally be associated with the approach of autumn.

Warm Weather in Ibiza, But Not 35°C

Ibiza will also remain warm, although current forecasts do not indicate temperatures anywhere near 35°C.

AEMET forecasts a maximum of 29°C in Ibiza Town on Monday, September 21, followed by another 29°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Conditions are expected to remain predominantly dry, with only limited cloud cover during the period.

Beaches Remain Around 29°C to 30°C

Beach forecasts from AEMET show similarly warm conditions around Ibiza.

At Talamanca, the forecast maximum is 29°C on September 21 and 30°C on September 22 and 23.

At Ses Figueretes, maximum temperatures are forecast at around 29°C, with sea temperatures of approximately 26°C to 27°C.

Cala Gració is also forecast to reach around 29°C, with the Mediterranean remaining in the mid-to-high 20s.

Some Cloud, But Little Rain Expected

Despite the overall settled pattern, AEMET is forecasting some periods of cloud, including low cloud in parts of the Balearics and Mediterranean.

For Ibiza Town, the probability of rain remains low over the next several days, with the current forecast showing dry conditions through September 23.

Strong Winds Remain a Concern in Cádiz

The warm and settled conditions are not universal.

AEMET has issued warnings for parts of Cádiz because of strong easterly winds, particularly around the Strait of Gibraltar and the coast.

Gusts in the Strait could reach around 80 km/h, while coastal and inland areas of Cádiz could experience gusts of up to around 70 km/h.

Tropical Nights Continue in Some Regions

Warm nights are also expected to persist in parts of southern Spain.

AEMET defines tropical nights as those in which temperatures do not fall below 20°C. These conditions are expected to continue in parts of the southern Mediterranean coast and the lower Guadalquivir.

Ibiza's nights are expected to be cooler than this in the current forecast, with temperatures in Ibiza Town falling to around 17°C on Monday night before overnight temperatures rise closer to 20°C during the following days.

A Warm Start to the Week

The return of higher temperatures comes just before the astronomical change of season later in the week.

Across mainland Spain, some inland areas will continue experiencing temperatures that feel more like summer than late September.

For Ibiza, the outlook is more moderate but still warm, with temperatures around 29°C to 30°C providing conditions that remain firmly suitable for beach days and outdoor activities.

For anyone staying in Ibiza during the coming days, the current outlook points to mostly dry and settled weather, warm afternoons and sea temperatures around 26°C to 27°C.

The island is not part of the areas expected to exceed 35°C, but temperatures close to 30°C mean summer conditions are continuing well into the final days of September.

The broader Spanish picture is more varied, with the most intense heat concentrated in parts of the mainland.

Summer Conditions Continue Across Parts of Spain

The latest forecasts show that the end of summer will not bring an immediate nationwide return to cooler weather.
