Baleària and the Coordinadora Trabajadores de los Puertos (CETP) have reached an agreement aimed at improving working conditions for the ferry company's ground staff in Ibiza and Formentera, following two years of negotiations.

The agreement was initially signed on August 5 and formally ratified on August 14, establishing a new employment framework adapted to the particular demands of working at the company's operations on both islands.

Two Years of Negotiations

The agreement brings an end to a negotiation process that lasted approximately two years.

It was reached through discussions between Baleària's management, the legal representatives of employees and CETP's general coordinator, Jónatan Granado.

Both sides described the agreement as the result of continued dialogue and a willingness to reach a mutually beneficial solution.

Better Pay and Working Conditions

One of the main elements of the new agreement is a series of salary improvements for ground staff.

The framework also introduces changes covering several aspects of employees' working lives, including:

Union Says Agreement Could Set a Wider Example

CETP general coordinator Jónatan Granado highlighted the work carried out by employee representatives over the two-year negotiation period.

He said the effort and negotiating capacity of the company's delegates were fundamental to reaching the agreement and suggested that the new framework could serve as a reference for negotiations at other Baleària workplaces.

The agreement therefore has significance beyond Ibiza and Formentera, potentially providing a model for future discussions between the company and its workforce elsewhere.

Baleària and the workers' representatives have agreed to continue working within the new framework to implement the measures and maintain a relationship based on stability, dialogue and ongoing communication.
