The Consell de Ibiza has approved a €50,000 programme of grants to help tourism professionals on the island access specialised training at the Ibiza campus of the Escola d’Hoteleria de les Illes Balears (EHIB).

The grants can cover up to 75% of the tuition actually paid by eligible students who completed approved courses during the 2025-2026 academic year.

The initiative is aimed at supporting professional training within Ibiza's tourism sector and helping workers gain specialised skills relevant to the island's hospitality industry.

Up to 75% of Tuition Covered

The programme has a maximum budget of €50,000.

As a general rule, each successful applicant can receive an amount equivalent to 75% of the tuition fee they paid for an eligible course.

However, there is an important limit.

If the total value of all eligible applications exceeds the €50,000 budget, the available funding will be distributed proportionally among the beneficiaries. This means applicants should not automatically assume that everyone will ultimately receive the full 75%.

Which Courses Are Included?

The grants cover several specialised programmes offered at the EHIB's Ibiza campus.

Eligible training includes the Master's in Advanced Gastronomy and Culinary Management, as well as specialist programmes in cooking and pastry, restaurant management and sommelier studies.

The programme also includes the Specialist in Spanish Wines course.

Another eligible qualification is the University Specialist in MICE and Event Organisation, offered by the Universitat de les Illes Balears in collaboration with the EHIB.

This gives the programme a relatively broad focus, covering culinary skills, wine, restaurant management and events.

Who Can Apply?

The grants are aimed at adults who meet a number of eligibility requirements.

Applicants must have Spanish nationality or legal residence in Spain and must have been resident in Ibiza from the beginning of their training through to the conclusion of the application process.

They must also have completed one of the eligible programmes in person and successfully during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Applicants must have paid their tuition in full and be up to date with their obligations to the tax authorities, Social Security and the Consell de Ibiza.

Applications Will Be Open for 10 Working Days

The application period will last 10 working days, beginning on the day after the official extract of the grant call is published in the Boletín Oficial de las Illes Balears (BOIB).

The full rules for the programme were published in BOIB number 110 on September 3, 2026.

Applications can be submitted either in person through the Consell de Ibiza's General Registry or electronically through the institution's online headquarters.

Applications cannot be submitted solely by email.

Supporting Ibiza's Tourism Workforce

The Consell says the programme is intended to contribute to the professionalisation and competitiveness of Ibiza's tourism sector.

The island's hospitality industry requires workers with specialised knowledge across areas such as gastronomy, wine, restaurant management and events.

By helping cover the cost of professional training, the programme aims to make these qualifications more accessible to people already living and working on the island.

Training for a Major Tourism Industry

Tourism remains central to Ibiza's economy, with hotels, restaurants, bars, event businesses and other hospitality companies employing a large seasonal and permanent workforce.

The training supported through this programme covers several areas directly connected with that industry.

The inclusion of advanced gastronomy, cooking, pastry, wine, restaurant management, sommelier studies and MICE events means the scheme reaches beyond one specific area of hospitality.

The Funding Is Not an Automatic 75%

One detail worth highlighting is that the 75% figure represents the maximum general level of support, rather than a guaranteed payment for every applicant.

If eligible applications collectively require more than the €50,000 available, the Consell will apply the same reduction coefficient to all beneficiaries and distribute the available budget proportionally.

The grants can also be combined with other public or private funding for the same training, provided that the combined support does not exceed the total cost of the course.

A Boost for Hospitality Training in Ibiza

The new programme gives people who completed eligible hospitality training during 2025-2026 an opportunity to recover a significant portion of their tuition costs.

With a total budget of €50,000 and support of up to 75%, the Consell hopes the scheme will help more professionals access specialised qualifications while strengthening the skills available within Ibiza's tourism sector.

The application process will now open following publication of the official call in the BOIB.
