Santa Gertrudis Festa Pagesa Returns on 25 October with Traditional Dancing, Crafts and Ibizan Food

October 22, 2026

Santa Gertrudis will celebrate Ibiza's rural heritage on Sunday, 25 October 2026, with its Festa Pagesa, a day of traditional dancing, music, crafts, folk games and local food. After being postponed earlier this month because of rain, the event is set to return with a revised location in the village square.

Organised by the Grup de Ball Tradicional de Santa Gertrudis, the celebration will begin at 11:00 and bring together residents and visitors interested in the island's countryside traditions. The programme includes ball pagès, traditional rural songs and instrumental music, craft displays and games associated with Ibiza's cultural heritage.

The event was originally planned for 4 October at sa Font de cas Ramons. However, rainfall forced organisers to postpone it, and the ground at the original site remains too wet for the activities to take place there. The village square will now host the celebration.

Traditional Ibizan Dance, Music and Folk Games

A central part of the Festa Pagesa is ball pagès, Ibiza's traditional country dance, which preserves distinctive movements, costumes and musical traditions passed down through generations.

The programme also includes cantades pageses, traditional rural songs, and sonades, instrumental music associated with the island's folk culture.

Visitors can explore a display of traditional crafts and watch or participate in tirada de bitlles, a traditional bowling game. Other folk activities are intended to introduce younger generations to customs that were once part of everyday life in Ibiza's countryside.

The Grup Folklòric Brisa de Portmany is also scheduled to take part, joining the host group in celebrating the island's cultural heritage.

Frita de Porc and Traditional Rural Food

Food will be another highlight of the day, with frita de porc, a traditional Ibizan pork dish closely associated with local celebrations and rural life.

The dish reflects the island's agricultural and culinary heritage, when community gatherings often centred on food prepared using locally available ingredients.

Alongside the music, dancing and games, the food programme offers visitors an opportunity to experience a traditional side of Ibiza that can be less visible during the island's busy summer tourism season.

A Celebration of Ibiza's Countryside Traditions

The Festa Pagesa is organised by the Grup de Ball Tradicional de Santa Gertrudis, with support from Santa Eulària Town Council and the Ibiza Island Council.

Its focus is on preserving and sharing the traditions of Ibiza's rural communities, from folk dance and music to traditional games, crafts and food. Moving the event into the village square also brings the celebration into the heart of Santa Gertrudis, making it accessible to people visiting the village.

For residents and visitors alike, the gathering provides an opportunity to discover the island's cultural heritage through activities designed for different generations.
