1. Picarol: 150 Years of an Ibizan Artist at Sa Nostra Sala
The artistic legacy of Josep Costa Ferrer, better known as Picarol, takes centre stage at Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza Town with a retrospective commemorating the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Born in Ibiza in 1876, Picarol became known as a draftsman, caricaturist, cultural promoter and entrepreneur. His work captured aspects of society and cultural life, while his professional activities extended beyond illustration into creative and business initiatives.
The exhibition, titled Picarol: dibuixant, promotor i emprenedor eivissenc. 150 anys, brings together 66 works alongside more than 40 historical documents. The collection presents different sides of the artist's career and offers visitors an opportunity to understand his contribution to Ibiza's cultural history.
The retrospective also explores his wider creative interests and his connections beyond the island, highlighting an important figure whose career extended across several areas of artistic and cultural activity.
The exhibition opened on October 15 and continues until November 14, making it possible to explore Picarol's work throughout October and into November.

2. Agradeciendo by Nilda Ventura at Jesús Cultural Centre
Art lovers can discover the expressive figurative work of Nilda Ventura at Jesús Cultural Centre, where her exhibition Agradeciendo continues this Wednesday.
The exhibition offers a closer look at the artist's creative world, bringing together paintings that explore human experience through colour, expression and composition. Her work is particularly associated with figurative subjects, including portraits of women and children from different backgrounds and social realities.
Ventura's use of an intense colour palette gives her paintings a distinctive visual character. Through expressive faces and carefully developed compositions, the artist explores themes of identity, diversity, freedom and vitality.
Her artistic journey also reflects a dialogue between her Argentine roots and her life in Ibiza, where she developed her practice through further artistic training.
Originally opened on October 15, Agradeciendo remains on display until October 30. The cultural centre's morning and afternoon opening hours make it possible to visit during either part of the day.

Using acrylic paint, Gofer explores subjects connected with the island's cultural roots, presenting his own interpretation of the traditions and identity that shape local life.
Gofer is also recognised for his work as a sculptor. In Mirades, his paintings bring colour to the exhibition space while encouraging visitors to reflect on the relationship between artistic expression and the cultural environment in which it develops.

4. Almànguenes by Neus Riera, Known as Riqueta, at Far de ses Coves Blanques
Contemporary ceramics meet traditional island materials in Almànguenes, an exhibition by Ibizan artist Neus Riera, known as Riqueta, at Far de ses Coves Blanques in Sant Antoni.
This is Riera's first individual exhibition and takes its inspiration from almánguena, a naturally occurring mixture of earth and aluminium oxide with red iron oxide traditionally used in Ibiza and Formentera. The reddish pigment was historically applied to cisterns and water reservoirs, as well as to walls and kitchens in traditional rural homes.
By bringing this material into a contemporary artistic context, Riera explores themes of identity, belonging and transformation. Her work draws a connection between the materials that once formed part of everyday island life and the changing landscapes and traditions of the Pityusic Islands.
The exhibition uses ceramic forms, textures and surfaces to consider what remains, what disappears and what emerges as a place changes over time. It also highlights the significance of traditional materials that are becoming less visible in the modern landscape.
Housed in the former lighthouse of ses Coves Blanques, the exhibition occupies a distinctive heritage setting beside the sea in Sant Antoni.
Almànguenes opened on October 16 and continues through October 31. Wednesday evening is an opportunity to discover the exhibition during its regular visiting hours.

5. Dones a la mar by Marina Penhos at Sala d'Exposicions Sant Jaume 72
The relationship between women, memory and the Mediterranean is at the heart of Dones a la mar, an exhibition by Argentine artist and educator Marina Penhos at Sala d'Exposicions Sant Jaume 72 in Santa Eulària des Riu.
The project brings together photography and textile art to explore the connections between women and the sea, drawing attention to cultural traditions, memories and experiences associated with maritime life.
Rather than approaching the sea solely as a landscape, the exhibition examines its place in personal and collective identity. The works invite visitors to consider the role women have played in coastal communities and the ways their stories and traditions remain part of Mediterranean culture.
The exhibition also formed part of a wider programme of activities, including Mujeres con raíces, a participatory textile-art gathering held earlier in October.
For visitors exploring Santa Eulària, Dones a la mar offers an opportunity to discover contemporary artistic perspectives on the sea and its cultural significance.
The exhibition runs until October 24, making this Wednesday one of the final opportunities to see it before it closes.
