Storm Adam Closes Roads and Disrupts Public Services Across Ibiza on Monday, 19 October

October 19, 2026

Ibiza is facing further disruption on Monday, 19 October, as Storm Adam brings another spell of heavy rain to the island. Road closures, warnings of possible landslides and temporary suspensions affecting public services are forcing residents to adjust their plans and avoid unnecessary journeys.

The Consell d’Eivissa has announced a series of precautionary measures following instructions from the Integrated Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPI), coordinated by the Balearic Government’s Directorate General of Emergencies.

Airport Road Closed as Traffic Disruption Continues

One of the main reported disruptions on Monday morning was the closure of the road to Ibiza Airport between kilometre points 3 and 5.5, in both directions.

The Glorieta de Jesús, which had also been closed earlier in the morning, was reported to be reopening progressively at around 10:00. However, road conditions remained subject to change as the island dealt with the effects of heavy rainfall.

Authorities also warned of a risk of landslides on roads in northern Ibiza, particularly in the areas around Sant Carles and Sant Vicent de sa Cala.

Drivers are being urged to take extra care, avoid unnecessary travel and follow instructions from the emergency services. Anyone travelling to the airport should check the latest official traffic updates before setting off and allow additional time for their journey.

Consell Suspends Activities and Closes Facilities

The island council has introduced temporary restrictions across several public services and facilities to reduce unnecessary travel and protect residents and employees.

The measures announced for Monday include:

  • Registration services: The Office for Public Registration is operating with a minimum level of in-person service. Residents are encouraged to use the electronic office or call 971 959 006.

  • Llar Eivissa: All activities have been suspended. The meal service may operate if weather conditions allow.

  • Consell nursery schools: Educational activities have been suspended.

  • Sports facilities: Es Raspallar and Blancadona facilities, along with Sant Rafel racecourse, are closed until further notice.

  • Cas Serres Hospital Residence: The day centre is suspended for external users, while activities for residents continue.

  • Cas Serres Island Library: Closed until further notice.

  • Driving examination centre: Closed until further notice.

  • Vehicle inspection stations (ITV): Both stations on Ibiza are closed for the day.

People who had an ITV appointment scheduled for Monday, 19 October, can attend for their inspection during the following two weeks without needing to book a new appointment.

The Consell has also asked non-essential public employees to remain at home to avoid unnecessary journeys. Essential services continue to operate according to the applicable emergency arrangements.

Residents Urged to Avoid Unnecessary Journeys

The latest measures follow the continued impact of Storm Adam across Ibiza and Formentera, where intense rainfall has affected roads and infrastructure.

The situation remains changeable, and closures or service arrangements may be updated as conditions evolve. Residents should check official announcements from the Consell d’Eivissa, their local town hall and the emergency services before travelling or visiting public facilities.

With further disruption possible, the priority remains to reduce avoidable journeys, stay away from flooded roads and areas at risk of landslides, and follow instructions issued by the authorities.

Ibiza One Stop will continue to follow developments affecting the island as the situation evolves.
