Iberia Express is strengthening the air connection between Ibiza and Madrid for the winter season, with up to five flights per day in each direction as part of an expanded programme connecting the Balearic Islands with the Spanish capital.

The airline expects to operate close to 200 flights per week between Madrid and the Balearic Islands this winter, with Ibiza receiving up to five daily connections in each direction.

The additional capacity is designed to provide more options for residents, workers and visitors travelling between Ibiza and Madrid outside the main summer season.

Up to Five Flights a Day

Under the winter programme, Iberia Express will offer up to five daily flights between Madrid and Ibiza in both directions.

The airline says the frequencies will be distributed throughout the day, giving passengers greater flexibility when planning their journeys between the island and the Spanish capital.

The increase forms part of a broader Balearic programme. Mallorca will have up to 12 flights per day in each direction between Madrid and the island, while Ibiza will have up to five.

The wording "up to five" is important, as the maximum frequency does not necessarily mean that five flights will operate on every single day of the winter schedule.

Almost 200 Weekly Flights Between Madrid and the Balearics

Across the three main Balearic airports, Iberia Express expects its winter operation to reach almost 200 weekly flights between Madrid and the islands.

The airline has positioned the expanded schedule as a way of improving connectivity outside the summer peak, when Ibiza traditionally has a much greater number of air connections.

For Ibiza, the Madrid route is particularly important for residents and businesses as well as for visitors travelling to the island during the quieter months.

Flexible Same-Day Flight Changes

Iberia Express is also maintaining its "Mueve tu vuelo" service on the Madrid-Ibiza connection.

The service allows eligible passengers to move their flight to an earlier or later departure on the same day, provided the change is made within the conditions established by the airline. The service is available throughout the year on the Madrid-Ibiza and Madrid-Mallorca routes.

The option is intended to give passengers additional flexibility when travel plans change during the day.

Ibiza-Madrid Connectivity Beyond Summer

The winter increase follows a period of sustained growth on the Ibiza-Madrid route.

Iberia Express had already expanded its summer operation in 2026, progressively increasing frequencies to six daily flights and, on some specific days, as many as seven. At the height of the summer schedule, the airline planned up to 43 connections per week in each direction.

The latest winter programme represents a continuation of the airline's strategy of maintaining stronger connectivity between Ibiza and Madrid beyond the traditional peak tourism season.

For Ibiza residents and businesses, the additional winter frequencies provide more options for travelling to the capital, while visitors will have greater flexibility when planning trips to the island outside the summer months.
