Un Mar de Posibilidades Closes 2026 Season in Ibiza After Supporting 418 Users

06 de October de 2026

The inclusive social programme Un Mar de Posibilidades has completed its 2026 season in Ibiza after providing adapted nautical activities to 418 users, according to the Club Náutico Ibiza, which promotes the initiative.

The programme's water-based activities concluded on September 28, bringing another season of work aimed at helping people who face difficulties accessing the sea to experience Ibiza's marine environment in an adapted and supported setting.

418 People Took Part

A total of 418 users participated in the programme during this year's campaign.

According to the organisation, the figure is higher than in previous editions.

Participants included older people, people with dependencies or disabilities and other people in vulnerable situations.

One of the new additions this year was the Colisée residence, allowing its older residents to take part in activities designed around the therapeutic and wellbeing benefits of the marine environment.

The programme has been running for 22 years and began in 2004 as an initiative connected to the Club Náutico Ibiza.

Bringing the Sea Within Reach

Un Mar de Posibilidades was created around the idea that the sea can be more than a recreational environment and can also provide opportunities for therapy, wellbeing and social inclusion.

For people who may normally face physical or other barriers to reaching the water, the programme provides adapted activities with the necessary professional and volunteer support.

This year's programme included sailing trips, assisted bathing, hydromassage therapy and beach support services.

When sea conditions prevented the planned water activities from taking place, participants could instead take part in psychomotor activation exercises.

A Programme Built Around Inclusion

The initiative works with people from different backgrounds and with different support needs.

The programme's 2026 activities were designed to provide participants with opportunities to enjoy the marine environment while maintaining the appropriate assistance and adaptations.

The organisers say the experience can contribute to wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem, while also helping to remove barriers that can prevent vulnerable groups from accessing the sea.

The Balearic Government has previously highlighted the programme's work with people with disabilities, dependency, serious illnesses, older people and other vulnerable groups.

18 Volunteers and a Multidisciplinary Team

The 2026 campaign was supported by 18 volunteers, alongside a multidisciplinary professional team.

The volunteers and professionals helped deliver the adapted activities and provide the assistance required by participants during their time at the beach and on the water.

The project also receives institutional support from the Consell d'Eivissa and the island's municipalities, together with support from private organisations and sponsors.

Among those supporting the programme are Marina Ibiza, Fundación Abel Matutes, Fundación la Caixa and Valoriza Medio Ambiente.

Preparing the Final Season Review

Although the water-based activities have now finished, the 2026 project has not yet reached its formal closing assessment.

The Club Náutico Ibiza plans to present the season's balance and results at an official closing event expected to take place in early November.

Representatives from the participating groups and their technical teams are expected to take part, with the meeting also providing an opportunity to review the programme and establish objectives for the next season.

For now, the completion of the 2026 activities marks another year for a project that has spent more than two decades working to make Ibiza's sea more accessible to people who might otherwise struggle to enjoy it.

With 418 users recorded during this year's campaign, Un Mar de Posibilidades continues to use the island's marine environment as a setting for inclusion, supported activity and wellbeing.
