Ibiza Welcomes Itinerant Oficina del Autónomo to Help Self-Employed Workers Access Aid

06 de October de 2026

An itinerant Oficina del Autónomo has arrived in Ibiza as the Balearic Government takes its information and advisory service directly to self-employed workers and entrepreneurs across the Pitiusas.

The initiative is designed to make it easier for people who are already self-employed, or considering starting a business, to understand the public aid, subsidies and support available to them.

The mobile office began its Ibiza visit on Monday, October 5, with its first stop at Parc de la Pau, opposite Mercat Nou in Ibiza Town.

It will continue to Formentera on October 6, Sant Antoni de Portmany on October 7 and Santa Eulària des Riu on October 8.

Bringing Information Closer to Businesses

The Oficina del Autónomo normally operates from the headquarters of the Balearic Government's Department of Business, Self-Employment and Energy.

The travelling version was created to bring that support closer to municipalities and businesses around the islands.

The service provides information and face-to-face advice about available grants and other measures, helps clarify administrative questions and can guide self-employed workers through the process of accessing support.

The Government says the initiative is intended to strengthen the self-employed and small-business sector while making public information more accessible.

Several Different Forms of Support

One of the main messages from the Ibiza visit is that there are several different programmes available, depending on the circumstances of the self-employed worker.

Among them is the Quota Zero programme for people starting a self-employed activity.

Under the current 2026 programme, eligible applicants can receive support covering up to 100% of the reduced Social Security contribution during the first two years of activity. Support for the third year covers 50% of the relevant contributions, up to a maximum of €175 per month.

The programme is subject to eligibility conditions and application deadlines, meaning it is not an automatic benefit for every new self-employed worker.

Support for Established Self-Employed Workers

There is also a separate programme aimed at established self-employed workers with at least 36 months of uninterrupted registration.

The programme covers areas including innovation and digitalisation, strategic and financial management, sustainability and investment to improve competitiveness.

The maximum aid is €3,000 per beneficiary.

These grants are intended to help established businesses modernise, consolidate their activities and improve their competitiveness.

Support for Hiring Staff

Another area highlighted during the Ibiza visit is support connected with hiring employees.

According to the Oficina del Autónomo's technical staff, there are different levels of assistance depending on the qualifications of the person being hired, with amounts ranging from €2,000 to €3,000 under the programmes discussed with visitors.

The Government also has separate employment programmes supporting the recruitment of qualified unemployed workers by self-employed people and small businesses, with their own eligibility requirements and conditions.

The Office Continues Across the Pitiusas

The travelling office's schedule continues throughout the week.

After Ibiza Town on October 5, the service is in Formentera on Tuesday, October 6, followed by Sant Antoni on Wednesday, October 7, and Santa Eulària on Thursday, October 8.

The official timetable is 09:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 17:30.

The Government says the initiative is intended not only to explain existing aid but also to bring the administration closer to people running small businesses and those considering becoming self-employed.

For entrepreneurs who are unsure which programmes they may qualify for, the service provides an opportunity to receive information directly and understand the requirements before beginning an application.

Making Public Support Easier to Find

The creation of the Oficina del Autónomo reflects an effort by the Balearic Government to centralise information that can otherwise be spread across different programmes and administrative bodies.

The Government's dedicated self-employment portal currently brings together information on aid covering different stages of an autonomous business, from starting an activity to consolidation and growth.

For Ibiza and Formentera, the travelling office provides a temporary face-to-face point of contact, giving local self-employed workers and prospective entrepreneurs the chance to ask questions without having to travel to Mallorca.

The message from the officials involved is straightforward: there are multiple forms of public support available, but understanding which programme applies, meeting its requirements and applying within the relevant period remains essential.
