Storm Adam Disrupts Ibiza Flights Again, With Five Cancellations and One Diversion on Monday

October 20, 2026

Storm Adam continued to affect air travel in Ibiza on Monday, 19 October, with five flights cancelled and one diverted at Ibiza Airport by 16:00, according to provisional figures from airport operator Aena.

The latest disruption followed a difficult Sunday, when torrential rain forced the airport to suspend operations twice and caused widespread cancellations and diversions. Although the airport remained operational on Monday, weather-related incidents continued to affect connections between Ibiza and other destinations.

Ibiza to Palma and Alicante Connections Affected

Of the five flights cancelled at Ibiza Airport by 16:00 on Monday, three were services connecting the island with Palma de Mallorca. The other two cancellations involved flights between Ibiza and Elche-Alicante.

The disruption also affected the wider Balearic Islands. Palma Airport recorded 12 diversions and ten cancellations by the same time, while Menorca was affected by the cancellation of a flight connecting the island with Palma.

Across the Balearic Islands, Aena's provisional figures at 16:00 showed 13 diverted flights and 12 cancellations.

These figures represent the position at that time and may have changed as the day progressed.

Sunday's Torrential Rain Caused More Extensive Disruption

Monday's figures came after a more severe period of disruption on Sunday, 18 October.

By 19:00 on Sunday, Ibiza Airport had recorded 27 cancellations and 16 diversions, according to Aena data reported by EFE.

The heavy rainfall forced airport operations to stop twice during the morning. The first interruption lasted from 10:00 to 11:00, followed by a second suspension between 11:15 and 12:15 while workers removed accumulated water from several parts of the airfield.

The storm also affected areas inside and outside the terminal, while damage to parking structures restricted access to parts of the airport's parking facilities.

Operations subsequently resumed, although the disruption continued to affect flights throughout Sunday.

Airports Remain Operational as Storm Effects Continue

Despite the weather-related problems, airports across the Balearic Islands remained operational on Monday.

Passengers travelling to or from Ibiza were advised to check their flight status directly with their airline before leaving for the airport, as further changes could occur while the storm continued to affect the region.

With heavy rainfall also causing road closures, flooding and disruption to public services across Ibiza and Formentera, travellers were urged to allow additional time for their journeys and follow instructions from the authorities.

The latest flight figures underline the continuing impact of Storm Adam on transport across the islands, even after the most severe operational interruptions at Ibiza Airport on Sunday had ended.
