Cala Tarida Residents Demand Reliable Bus Services After Reports of Delays and Missed Journeys

October 19, 2026

Residents of Cala Tarida are calling for urgent improvements to public transport in the area, citing reported bus delays, uncertainty over scheduled services and difficulties accessing reliable timetable information. The Cala Tarida Residents’ Association has raised its concerns with ALSA and is asking the company and the relevant authorities to investigate the problems and ensure that advertised services operate as planned.

In a statement reported on 16 October 2026, the association said some passengers had reported waiting for up to an hour for a bus that did not arrive as expected. It warned that unreliable services can disrupt daily routines, particularly for people who depend on public transport to get to work, return home or organise family commitments.

The association argues that residents need a service they can rely on, alongside clear information when journeys are delayed, changed or cancelled.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Delays and Timetable Information

According to the association, passengers have questioned whether advertised frequencies are being maintained and whether some services are being cancelled without sufficient explanation.

The group has also raised concerns about the clarity and reliability of timetable information. It says some notices displayed at bus stops announcing service changes have been difficult to read, while updates have not always been clearly reflected on the transport operator’s website.

The association says these problems make it harder for passengers to plan journeys and know when to expect a bus.

It has asked ALSA and the competent authorities to review the services affecting Cala Tarida and nearby communities, explain any cancellations and ensure that information provided to passengers is accurate and up to date.

The reported delays and missed services have not been independently established in every case, and the association’s account remains central to the complaints.

School Transport Also Comes Under Scrutiny

The residents’ association has received additional complaints about school transport journeys returning to Cala Tarida, Cala Vadella, es Cubells and Port des Torrent.

According to the association, families have reported delays, changes of vehicle, problems with bus doors and a lack of air conditioning on some vehicles. It has also raised concerns that delays elsewhere in the transport network may affect school journeys.

The association says these reported incidents create difficulties for families who need to know when their children will arrive home.

It is calling for the complaints to be reviewed, including the punctuality of school services and the condition and comfort of the vehicles being used. The reported problems have not been independently verified in each instance.

What ALSA Says About the Complaints

ALSA has confirmed that it is examining the complaints raised by residents. According to a report published by La Voz de Ibiza on 16 October, the company said it had contacted Sant Josep Town Council to coordinate and address the concerns communicated by the Cala Tarida Residents’ Association.

The company also said it would review the services operating in the Cala Tarida area to check that journeys were being provided in accordance with the timetables established by the Consell d’Eivissa.

The review is an important distinction: the company has acknowledged the complaints and described steps to examine them, but this does not in itself confirm that every reported delay or missed service occurred as described.

Five Priorities for Improving the Service

The Cala Tarida Residents’ Association is asking ALSA and the relevant authorities to take action in five main areas:

  • Reliable services: Ensure that advertised bus journeys operate as scheduled and provide clear explanations when cancellations or disruptions occur.

  • Accurate information: Make timetable notices at stops legible and ensure online information reflects current schedules and service changes.

  • School transport: Investigate reported delays, vehicle changes, door problems and air-conditioning issues.

  • Clear communication: Provide passengers with timely information when a service is disrupted.

  • Review of local connections: Examine the schedules, frequencies and links serving Cala Tarida and neighbouring communities.

The association says it will continue collecting complaints and documenting reported incidents until improvements are made.

For residents who rely on public transport, the issue goes beyond punctuality. A dependable bus service affects access to employment, education, healthcare and everyday activities, particularly in communities where alternative transport may not always be available.

The residents’ association is asking for the concerns to be investigated on the ground, with clear communication and practical measures to ensure that passengers can plan their journeys with greater confidence.
