Storm Adam Forces Five Road Closures in Santa Eulària as Heavy Rain Hits Northern Ibiza

October 19, 2026

Five roads in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu were closed to traffic on Monday, 19 October 2026, following intense rainfall and flooding caused by Storm Adam. The closures affect routes serving several parts of the municipality, including the areas of Es Figueral, Cala Llenya, Cala Mestella, Morna and Atzaró.

Santa Eulària Town Council announced the restrictions and urged residents to avoid unnecessary journeys while the situation remained hazardous. The warning came as torrential rain continued to affect Ibiza, with overflowing torrents and flooding creating difficulties on roads in the north of the island.

Which Roads Are Closed?

According to the official announcement from Santa Eulària Town Council, the five roads affected are:

  • Carretera des Figueral

  • Carretera de Cala Llenya

  • Carretera de Cala Mestella

  • Carretera de Morna

  • Carretera de Atzaró

The closures were introduced in response to the intense rainfall recorded across the municipality. Drivers should check the latest official updates before travelling, as restrictions may change depending on weather conditions and the work required to make the roads safe.

Authorities Warn Against Driving Through Floodwater

The town council has urged the public to exercise extreme caution and respect all road signs and instructions issued by emergency and security services.

Residents are specifically advised not to attempt to cross flooded sections of road. Even when water does not appear particularly deep, flowing water and hidden damage to the road surface can make crossing dangerous.

The council also recommends checking road conditions before setting out and avoiding journeys that are not essential while the weather situation remains unstable.

Storm Adam Continues to Affect Northern Ibiza

The road closures form part of a wider episode of severe weather affecting Ibiza and Formentera. Intense downpours have caused flooding in several locations, while emergency authorities have highlighted concerns about overflowing torrents in Santa Eulària and Sant Joan.

The situation has been particularly challenging because heavy rainfall can develop rapidly in localised areas, making the impact difficult to predict.

Residents are being encouraged to follow official emergency communications and avoid areas at risk of flooding until conditions improve.

Check Road Conditions Before Travelling

Anyone planning to travel through Santa Eulària, particularly towards Es Figueral, Cala Llenya, Cala Mestella, Morna or Atzaró, should consult the latest municipal and emergency-service updates before leaving.

The five closures were confirmed by Santa Eulària Town Council on 19 October. Drivers should not assume that a road has reopened until this has been confirmed by the relevant authorities.

With heavy rain continuing to affect parts of Ibiza, avoiding unnecessary journeys and following official instructions remain the safest precautions.
