Ibiza and Formentera Lead Spain in Hotel Revenue With €225 Per Available Room This Summer
6 October 2026
Ibiza and Formentera have once again emerged as Spain's most profitable hotel destination, with hotels in the Pitiusas generating an average €225.1 in revenue per available room between June and August 2026.
The figure, known as RevPAR, increased by 9.5% compared with the same period in 2025, according to the latest tourism outlook from Exceltur.
The result placed Ibiza and Formentera comfortably ahead of other major Spanish holiday destinations during the summer period.
What the €225 Figure Actually Means
The €225.1 figure does not represent the average price paid by a hotel guest.
RevPAR, or Revenue per Available Room, measures the average daily hotel revenue generated across all available rooms, taking occupancy into account.
It is therefore a measure of hotel performance rather than simply room rates.
This distinction is important because an individual hotel can charge considerably more or less than the destination average, depending on its category, location, occupancy and pricing strategy.
The latest figure applies to Ibiza and Formentera together, rather than Ibiza island alone.
Ibiza and Formentera Well Ahead of Other Destinations
The Pitiusas recorded the highest figure among the major Spanish holiday destinations included in the comparison.
The summer figures were:
-
Ibiza and Formentera: €225.1
-
Menorca: €186.7
-
Costa del Sol: €175.4
-
Mallorca: €170.1
Mallorca's RevPAR increased by 9.2% year on year, while the Costa del Sol recorded growth of 9.7%. Menorca's increase was much more modest at around 1%.
The gap between the Pitiusas and the other destinations is significant. Ibiza and Formentera's combined figure was around €39 higher than Menorca and approximately €50 higher than both Mallorca and the Costa del Sol.
Revenue Rose Even as Demand Fell
One of the most notable aspects of the latest figures is that hotel revenue increased despite a decline in overall hotel demand.
Hotel demand across Ibiza and Formentera fell by 2.4% during the period analysed.
Foreign demand declined by 2.8%, while demand from the domestic Spanish market increased by 0.7%.
The figures therefore point towards a tourism model in which higher revenue is not necessarily dependent on attracting more visitors.
Instead, hotels can increase their revenue through higher prices, stronger positioning, improved facilities and a greater proportion of higher-value accommodation.
The Role of Hotel Renovation
Exceltur has pointed to the renovation of the hotel product as one factor helping Ibiza and Formentera maintain relatively high prices.
The Pitiusas have undergone extensive investment and repositioning across parts of the hotel sector in recent years, particularly in the premium and luxury segments.
That investment can allow hotels to command higher rates while competing for visitors who place greater emphasis on accommodation quality and overall experience.
Exceltur has linked this broader trend to the evolution of mature Spanish destinations, where increasing revenue is becoming less dependent on simply increasing visitor numbers.
A Different Picture From the Annual 2025 Figure
The latest €225.1 figure should not be directly compared with the €170.3 RevPAR recorded by Ibiza and Formentera in 2025 without considering the different periods involved.
The €170.3 figure was the average for the 2025 annual ranking, while the new €225.1 figure covers only June, July and August 2026, the core summer months.
For a like-for-like comparison, Exceltur reports that the Pitiusas' summer 2026 RevPAR was 9.5% above the corresponding summer period in 2025.
That is the more meaningful comparison.
Hotel Performance Remains Strong
The latest figures also fit with the broader picture emerging from Ibiza's hotel sector during 2026.
At the end of September, the Ibiza and Formentera hotel employers' federation described the season as one of consolidation, with average occupancy between May and August reaching 86.21% in Ibiza, according to figures cited by the sector. Hotel revenue had also helped absorb higher personnel, energy and supply costs.
Nationally, the INE reported that Spanish hotels generated average revenue of €166.9 per occupied room in August 2026, while national RevPAR reached €133.1. These figures use a different geographical and statistical breakdown from the Exceltur Pitiusas destination analysis, so they should not be treated as a direct one-to-one comparison.
What the Numbers Say About Ibiza's Tourism Model
The latest figures highlight an important shift in the island's tourism economy.
Ibiza and Formentera did not need an increase in visitor volume to produce stronger hotel revenue during the main summer period.
Instead, the destination achieved higher RevPAR while overall hotel demand declined.
That combination suggests that the value generated per available hotel room is becoming increasingly important to the islands' tourism performance.
It also reinforces the growing importance of accommodation quality, hotel investment and higher-value tourism products in maintaining Ibiza's position among Spain's most profitable holiday destinations.
Ibiza and Formentera Remain at the Top
With €225.1 in average RevPAR between June and August, Ibiza and Formentera were clearly ahead of the other major Spanish holiday destinations measured by Exceltur.
The 9.5% year-on-year increase is particularly notable because it came alongside a fall in overall hotel demand.
The figures do not mean every hotel in Ibiza achieved €225 per room, nor do they indicate that room prices have universally risen by that amount.
They do, however, show that the combined hotel sector of Ibiza and Formentera generated exceptionally high revenue per available room during the core summer months of 2026.
For a destination increasingly focused on quality, investment and higher-value tourism, the latest RevPAR figures provide a strong measure of where the Pitiusas currently stand in Spain's competitive hotel market.
