HC Eivissa Claim First Victory of the Season with 28-25 Win Over Zamora

5 October 2026

Trasmapi Gobycar Citubo HC Eivissa finally opened its 2026/27 División de Honor Plata account with a hard-fought 28-25 victory over Caja Rural Balonmano Zamora on Saturday, October 3, at the Polideportivo Insular de Blancadona.

The Ibiza side had entered the fourth round still searching for its first win after a defeat in Santander and two consecutive draws. Against Zamora, Eugenio Tilves' team had to work for the result until the final minutes before securing two points in front of its home supporters.

Eivissa Take Narrow Lead Into Half-Time

Zamora made the stronger start, opening the scoring inside the first minute, but Eivissa gradually settled into the contest.

The home side began to find more solutions in attack, with Biel Valera Rovira playing an important role in the early stages. The match remained closely contested, with both teams working hard defensively and neither able to establish a decisive advantage.

Eivissa eventually moved in front and reached the interval with a 14-12 lead.

Zamora Turn the Match Around

The visitors returned from the break with renewed intensity and quickly put pressure on the Ibiza defence.

Zamora went ahead 18-17 early in the second half before extending its advantage to 20-18 with less than 15 minutes remaining. The situation forced Eivissa to respond at a crucial moment, with Tilves attempting to reorganise his side from the bench.

The hosts then found the reaction they needed.

A combination of improved defensive work and important attacking contributions allowed Eivissa to regain the lead at 21-20. After the score reached 21-21, the home side produced its strongest spell of the game.

Eivissa moved from 21-21 to 24-21, creating the first significant cushion of the closing stages and putting itself in control of the outcome.

Eivissa Hold Their Nerve

Zamora continued to push and refused to let the game go, but Eivissa managed the final minutes effectively.

The home team maintained its advantage and eventually closed out a 28-25 victory, sparking the celebrations at Blancadona.

For Eivissa, the result was particularly significant after three opening matches without a victory. The team had previously lost 31-28 away to Blendio Santander Ciudad Sinfín before drawing 27-27 with Fundación Agustinos Alicante and 27-27 at BM Servigroup Benidorm.

A First Win That Could Set the Tone

The 28-25 result gives HC Eivissa its first victory of the 2026/27 campaign and ends a run of one defeat and two draws at the start of the season.

More importantly, the performance showed the team's ability to respond when the match appeared to be slipping away. After Zamora moved two goals clear in the second half, Eivissa recovered, regained control and finished the contest strongly.

The season is still in its early stages, but the victory provides an important boost for Eugenio Tilves' side as it continues its campaign in Spain's División de Honor Plata.
