Ibiza Ranked Seventh in eShores Study of Europe's Culture and Nightlife Destinations

3 October 2026

Ibiza has been ranked seventh in a new study examining European destinations that combine cultural attractions with nightlife, placing the island behind Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest, Lisbon, Athens and Kraków.

The research was published by London Daily News on 1 October 2026 as partner content and is attributed to travel company eShores. The study compares European destinations using measures relating to museums and cultural attractions alongside bars and clubs.

Ibiza received an overall score of 138 in the study.

Europe's Top 10

According to the published eShores research, the top 10 destinations were:

  1. Berlin, 621

  2. Barcelona, 593

  3. Budapest, 290

  4. Lisbon, 284

  5. Athens, 250

  6. Kraków, 207

  7. Ibiza, 138

  8. Valencia, 129

  9. Porto, 112

  10. Split, 52

The figures and ordering above reproduce the ranking published by London Daily News.

The study should be understood specifically as an eShores assessment of destinations combining culture and nightlife. It is not an official European tourism ranking, nor does the published article establish a universal ranking of European nightlife.

Berlin Takes First Place

Berlin topped the study with a score of 621.

The research highlights the German capital's museums, historical attractions and nightlife as factors behind its position. Barcelona followed in second place with 593 points.

The London Daily News report states that Barcelona achieved the highest nightlife score within the study, despite finishing behind Berlin on the combined measure.

Ibiza Finishes Seventh

Ibiza's seventh-place position puts it below six destinations in the combined ranking.

The island scored 138, compared with 207 for sixth-placed Kraków and 129 for eighth-placed Valencia.

The study therefore places Ibiza above Valencia, Porto and Split, while Barcelona and Valencia give Spain three destinations in the published top 10.

The result is particularly notable because Ibiza is internationally associated with electronic music and club culture. However, the study is not measuring nightlife alone. Its stated purpose is to identify destinations offering both cultural attractions and nightlife.

Different Rankings Measure Different Things

The result also needs to be viewed alongside other recent research rather than treated as a definitive assessment of Ibiza's nightlife.

Time Out's September 2026 European nightclub ranking placed [UNVRS] Ibiza third among European clubs, behind Sisyphos in Berlin and Shelter in Amsterdam. That ranking assesses individual nightclubs rather than destinations as a whole.

Time Out's separate 2026 city nightlife research also placed Berlin second globally after surveying more than 24,000 people about nightlife in their cities. The research considered factors including quality, affordability, community and how safe, welcoming and exciting cities feel after dark.

These studies use different methodologies and measure different aspects of nightlife, so their results are not directly comparable with the eShores culture-and-nightlife ranking.

Ibiza's Culture Beyond Clubbing

The eShores study's combined approach also reflects the fact that Ibiza's tourism offer extends beyond its club scene.

The island has a substantial cultural and historical offer, including Dalt Vila, archaeological sites, traditional villages, churches, museums and cultural events, alongside its internationally recognised nightlife.

The seventh-place result therefore relates to the particular combination measured by the eShores study rather than suggesting that Ibiza ranks seventh in European nightlife generally.

A Snapshot for 2027 Travel Planning

The research was presented in the context of travellers planning holidays for 2027 and looking for destinations where sightseeing and nightlife can be combined.

For Ibiza, the study provides one external assessment of how the island compares with European destinations when those two elements are considered together.

Its 138-point score places it seventh in the published eShores ranking, with Kraków immediately ahead on 207 and Valencia behind on 129.

The result adds another data point to the wider conversation around Ibiza's position as both a cultural destination and one of Europe's best-known nightlife locations.
