Ibiza JoySail will return to Ibiza and Formentera in September 2027 for its seventh edition, following a 2026 regatta that brought 19 sailing superyachts to Marina Ibiza.

The next edition is currently scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 September 2027, according to the official Ibiza JoySail website. The invitation-only regatta will once again combine competitive sailing around the Pityusic Islands with a programme of shoreside events in Ibiza.

The announcement follows the conclusion of the sixth Ibiza JoySail, held from 17 to 20 September 2026.

19 Superyachts Took Part in 2026

The 2026 fleet consisted of 19 sailing superyachts, with returning competitors joining yachts taking part in the regatta for the first time.

The fleet was divided into several racing classes, with yachts competing on coastal courses around Ibiza and Formentera. The organisers also awarded additional trophies, including prizes for owner-helmed yachts.

The event is promoted by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza and has developed into an invitation-only sailing event since its launch in 2021.

Three Days of Racing Around Ibiza and Formentera

Although the 2026 event ran from 17 to 20 September, racing took place over three days.

The first scheduled day of racing was delayed because of storm conditions. Racing subsequently went ahead, with the fleet sailing courses in the waters around Formentera and Ibiza before the final race off the Ibiza coastline.

The final race covered 16 nautical miles off Ibiza. POINT COUNTER POINT was first across the finish line on the final day, while the overall class victories went to five different yachts.

MOAT Wins the Performance Class Again

Swan 115 MOAT continued its record at Ibiza JoySail by winning the Performance Class for the sixth consecutive time.

The yacht has competed in every edition of the regatta and has won its class on each occasion.

The other 2026 class winners were:

• WINWIN, Performance Cruising 1

• CERVO, Performance Cruising 2

• POINT COUNTER POINT, Performance Cruising 3

• NOSTROMO, World Cruising

The results highlighted the competitive nature of the fleet, with several classes decided after the final race.

Racing With Ibiza and Formentera as the Backdrop

One of the defining features of Ibiza JoySail is its ability to use different coastal courses around the islands.

The 2026 programme included racing around Formentera as well as courses off Ibiza, with the Race Committee able to select routes according to the conditions.

MOAT tactician Cole Parada highlighted the variety of available courses and the sailing conditions as important elements of the event.

The Perpetual Trophy Returns

The Ibiza JoySail programme also includes the Perpetual Trophy, a separate Mallorca-to-Ibiza record challenge.

The challenge covers approximately 48 nautical miles between Punta Cala Figuera in Mallorca and Tagomago in Ibiza. Under the event's format, participating yachts have a 30-day window before the regatta in which to attempt the crossing and establish or improve the fastest time.

The Perpetual Trophy is separate from the coastal racing that makes up the main Ibiza JoySail competition.

Marina Ibiza Remains the Event Base

Marina Ibiza serves as the base for the regatta, with the event combining racing on the water with hospitality and social activities ashore.

The organisers also arrange chaseboats for media and VIP guests, allowing them to follow the racing from the water, while the shoreside programme provides opportunities for crews, owners and guests to meet after each day's competition.

The 2026 edition included support from companies involved in sail repair, logistics, provisioning and other services for participating yachts.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The seventh Ibiza JoySail is currently scheduled for 23 to 26 September 2027.

The return will continue an event that began in 2021 and has grown into an invitation-only superyacht regatta centred on the waters of Ibiza and Formentera.

With the 2026 edition now complete, attention turns to the next fleet, another programme of coastal racing and the return of the Mallorca-to-Ibiza Perpetual Trophy.
