Three people were injured after a Volkswagen Golf collided with a water tanker and became wedged beneath the larger vehicle in a serious road accident in Sant Josep de sa Talaia on Friday morning.

The crash happened at around 11:30 on 2 October at the junction of the road from Calabaza with Cala Vadella, near the Can Puyulet restaurant.

According to reports from the scene, the grey Volkswagen Golf struck the left side of a water tanker. The force of the collision left the car partially trapped underneath the truck, with its airbags deployed and significant damage to its front end.

Three People Injured

The driver of the water tanker suffered contusions and minor injuries.

The two occupants of the Volkswagen Golf were also injured and were taken by ambulance to hospital. Reports indicate that their injuries were mainly to the knees and legs, although the precise extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

All three people were reported to have suffered minor injuries, with no serious injuries reported.

Traffic Disrupted

The collision left both vehicles across the road and temporarily blocked traffic through the junction.

Traffic officers from the Guardia Civil attended the scene to regulate traffic and prepare the accident report while the injured people were assisted.

A roadside assistance team from Grúas Ibiza also attended. The damaged Volkswagen was removed from the road and the tanker was subsequently towed away.

The water tanker suffered damage to its front-left axle as a result of the collision.

Circumstances Under Investigation

The available reports establish how the vehicles collided but do not provide a confirmed explanation for why the Volkswagen Golf struck the tanker.

The Guardia Civil Traffic Unit prepared the corresponding report to establish the circumstances of the accident. No cause or responsibility should therefore be attributed without the findings of that investigation.

The incident temporarily affected traffic in the area while emergency services and recovery crews worked to assist those involved and clear the road.
