Ibiza Ranked Seventh in New Europe Culture and Nightlife Study for 2027 Travel

3 October 2026

Ibiza has been ranked seventh in a new study examining European destinations that combine cultural attractions with nightlife, placing the island behind Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest, Lisbon, Athens and Kraków.

The ranking was published by London Daily News on 1 October 2026 as partner content based on research by UK travel company eShores. The study compares European destinations using measures relating to museums and cultural attractions alongside bars and clubs.

Berlin took first place with an overall score of 621, followed by Barcelona on 593. Ibiza recorded a score of 138.

Ibiza Places Seventh

The top 10 destinations in the eShores study were:

  1. Berlin: 621

  2. Barcelona: 593

  3. Budapest: 290

  4. Lisbon: 284

  5. Athens: 250

  6. Kraków: 207

  7. Ibiza: 138

  8. Valencia: 129

  9. Porto: 112

  10. Split: 52

The study therefore places Ibiza ahead of Valencia, Porto and Split, while six destinations rank above the island.

The results should be understood specifically as an eShores ranking of destinations combining culture and nightlife. They are not an official European tourism ranking and do not represent a universal measurement of the quality of Ibiza's nightlife or cultural offering.

Berlin Leads the Study

Berlin recorded the highest overall score, with the study highlighting its combination of museums, historical attractions and nightlife.

Barcelona followed closely behind. According to the published research, Barcelona actually achieved the highest nightlife score in the study, while also offering major cultural attractions, architecture, museums, beaches and restaurants.

The result comes at a time when Berlin is also performing strongly in other independent 2026 nightlife research.

Time Out's 2026 global nightlife ranking placed Berlin second worldwide after surveying more than 24,000 people across 150 cities. Seventy-eight per cent of Berlin residents surveyed rated the city's nightlife as good or amazing.

Ibiza's Seventh-Place Result

Ibiza's position reflects the methodology used by the eShores study, which looks beyond nightlife alone.

The island is internationally associated with electronic music, clubs and DJs, but it also has a substantial cultural and historical offering, including Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, archaeological sites, traditional villages, churches, museums and local cultural events.

The eShores result therefore should not be interpreted as a ranking of Ibiza against Berlin purely as a nightlife destination.

That distinction is particularly relevant because other 2026 research has produced very different results when focusing specifically on nightlife.

Time Out's European nightclub ranking, for example, placed [UNVRS] Ibiza third among Europe's best nightclubs, behind Sisyphos in Berlin and Shelter in Amsterdam.

Three Spanish Destinations Make the Top 10

Spain was the most represented country in the eShores top 10, with Barcelona in second, Ibiza in seventh and Valencia in eighth.

The result highlights the variety of Spanish destinations included in the study, from major cities to an island internationally known for its nightlife.

The research also placed Lisbon fourth and Porto ninth, while Athens and Kraków completed the middle section of the ranking.

A Different Way of Looking at European Holidays

The study was presented as useful for travellers planning 2027 holidays who want to combine daytime sightseeing with evening entertainment.

For Ibiza, that combination is already part of the island's tourism offer.

Visitors can combine historic areas such as Dalt Vila with beaches, restaurants, markets and cultural attractions before experiencing Ibiza's internationally recognised nightlife.

The island's seventh-place result therefore provides one particular snapshot of how a travel company assessed the combination of culture and nightlife across European destinations.

It does not replace specialist nightlife rankings or broader tourism measurements.

Ibiza's Position in Context

The latest ranking adds another data point to the continuing discussion around Ibiza's position as both a cultural destination and an international nightlife centre.

The result from eShores places Ibiza seventh in its combined culture-and-nightlife study, while other contemporary research continues to recognise the island's strength in nightlife specifically.

For travellers considering 2027, the distinction is useful: Ibiza's seventh-place position relates to this particular combined ranking, rather than representing a seventh-place ranking for European nightlife overall.
