Ibiza and Formentera are set for a brief spell of calmer weather before conditions become more unsettled again, with AEMET forecasting a high probability of rain and stronger winds on Wednesday, October 7.

After a relatively calm start to the week, clouds will gradually increase on Tuesday before the biggest change arrives on Wednesday.

Wednesday Brings the Biggest Change

The most significant deterioration is currently forecast for Wednesday morning.

AEMET puts the probability of precipitation at up to 95% in both Ibiza and Formentera during the first half of the day.

The likelihood of rain is expected to remain high into the afternoon, at around 75% for both islands.

The forecast therefore points to a considerably wetter day than the start of the week, although the probability of rain does not mean that continuous rainfall is guaranteed throughout the entire day.

Winds Will Also Strengthen

Rain will not be the only change.

Winds are expected to increase from Tuesday into Wednesday, with a southwesterly flow of around 25 km/h across Ibiza and Formentera.

Gusts could reach approximately 50 km/h.

The combination of rain and stronger winds will mark a clear change from the calmer conditions experienced at the beginning of the week.

Temperatures Remain Mild

Despite the change in conditions, temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild for early October.

On Wednesday, Ibiza is forecast to see temperatures between approximately 19°C and 27°C.

Formentera is expected to range from around 20°C to 27°C.

The weather will therefore become wetter and windier without a major drop in temperatures.

Tuesday Will Be a Transition Day

Tuesday is expected to sit between the two different weather patterns.

In Ibiza, the first part of the day should remain relatively stable, with the chance of rain increasing during the second half as cloud cover develops.

The probability of precipitation is forecast to reach around 30% later in the day.

Formentera is expected to follow a similar pattern, with only a small chance of rain during the first half of Tuesday before the risk increases during the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures should remain close to Monday's levels, with highs around 27°C.

Thursday and Friday Could Stay Unsettled

The change may not be limited to Wednesday.

The current forecast maintains an elevated probability of rainfall into Thursday and Friday, suggesting that the second half of the week could remain considerably more unsettled than the beginning.

Forecasts several days ahead can still change, so the exact timing and intensity of rainfall will need to be monitored as the week progresses.

A Change After a Wet Weekend

The incoming weather follows a weekend of very different conditions across the Pitiusas.

Saturday brought significant rainfall in parts of Ibiza. Sant Antoni recorded around 94.2 litres per square metre, while approximately 15 litres per square metre were recorded in Ibiza and slightly more than 17 litres per square metre in Formentera.

Conditions improved considerably on Sunday, when temperatures returned to levels approaching 30°C in some areas.

Monday then brought a much calmer and sunnier day across the islands.

That short period of stability is now expected to give way to a wetter pattern from Wednesday.
