Spain has exported a record volume of cucumbers during the first six months of 2026, with shipments reaching almost 400,000 tonnes between January and June.

The latest trade data show that Spain exported 397.58 million kilograms of cucumbers during the first half of the year, the highest figure recorded for that period. The value of those exports reached approximately €698.5 million.

A First-Half Record

The January-June figure represents a 24.9% increase compared with the first half of 2017, when Spain exported 319.88 million kilograms of cucumbers.

The average export price during the first half of 2026 was around €1.76 per kilogram, while the total export value was also the highest recorded for the January-June period in the available series.

The figures come from Estacom trade statistics based on data from ICEX and Spain's Tax Agency.

Almería Dominates Spanish Cucumber Exports

Almería remains by far the largest source of Spain's cucumber exports.

The province shipped 293.24 million kilograms between January and June, accounting for 73.76% of all Spanish cucumber exports during the period.

Almería's exports were valued at around €508.54 million, also a record for the first half of a year.

Granada and Valencia Also Feature

Granada ranked second among Spanish provinces, with 29.84 million kilograms exported during the first six months.

Valencia followed with 18.81 million kilograms.

The figures highlight the strong concentration of Spain's cucumber export industry in a small number of major agricultural producing areas.

Murcia's Exports Also Continue to Grow

Murcia exported around 16 million kilograms of cucumbers during the first half of 2026.

That represented significant growth compared with the same January-June period in 2017, when Murcia's exports stood at approximately 6.27 million kilograms.

Among the four leading provinces highlighted in the latest data, Murcia recorded the strongest relative increase over that ten-year comparison period.

Export Value Has Increased Sharply

The growth is not limited to volume.

The value of Spanish cucumber exports reached approximately €698.48 million in the first half of 2026, compared with €324.53 million during the same period in 2017.

That represents an increase of more than 115% over the decade.

The average export price also rose from around €1.01 per kilogram in the first half of 2017 to approximately €1.76 per kilogram this year.

Another Dataset Shows a Very Similar Result

A separate set of Spanish trade figures processed by FEPEX also shows strong cucumber export performance during the first half of 2026.

FEPEX recorded 395,781 tonnes of cucumber exports between January and June, an increase of 1.4% compared with the first half of 2025. The value of those exports was €693 million, up 19% year on year.

The small difference between the two totals reflects the different statistical datasets and processing methods used. Both figures point to the same conclusion: Spain exported close to 400,000 tonnes of cucumbers during the first half of 2026.

Spain's Wider Fresh Produce Exports

The cucumber figures form part of a much larger Spanish fresh produce export industry.

During the first half of 2026, Spain exported around 6.6 million tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables, according to FEPEX's analysis of Customs data.

Vegetable exports accounted for approximately 3.16 million tonnes, while fruit exports reached around 3.44 million tonnes.

The overall value of fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached €11.605 billion during the first six months of the year.

A Strong European Export Industry

Spain remains one of Europe's major suppliers of fresh fruit and vegetables, with the European market absorbing the vast majority of its exports.

For the broader sector, FEPEX reported that exports to the European Union accounted for more than 83% of Spain's fresh fruit and vegetable export volume during the first five months of 2026.

Cucumbers are an important part of that trade, particularly from the major greenhouse-growing regions of southern and southeastern Spain.

What the Figures Show

The latest numbers point to a particularly strong first half of the year for Spain's cucumber export industry.

Nearly 400,000 tonnes were exported between January and June, with Almería supplying almost three quarters of the national volume. Export value has also risen substantially, supported by higher average prices compared with a decade earlier.

The record should be understood specifically as a January-June 2026 result. It does not represent Spain's full-year 2026 exports, which will only be known once the complete annual trade data are available.
