Es Cubells Celebrates More Than a Month of Ibiza Tradition With the 2026 Santa Teresa Festivities

7 October 2026

Es Cubells will celebrate its annual Fiestas de Santa Teresa with more than a month of activities bringing together Ibiza's traditions, culture, sport, music and community life.

The 2026 programme begins on Friday, October 9 and continues until Saturday, November 14, when the celebrations conclude with the XVII Concurso de Paellas des Cubells. The programme has been organised for different ages and interests, with activities ranging from exhibitions and traditional celebrations to sports, family entertainment and live music.

The Festivities Begin With Art

The programme opens on Friday, October 9 with the inauguration of Imaginari 2.0, an exhibition of sculptures by artist Jaume Marí.

The exhibition will be presented at the Salón Joan XXIII at 19:30 and can be visited through October 15.

The exhibition provides an artistic opening to a programme that will increasingly focus on the traditional and community character of Es Cubells as the main celebrations approach.

Sport and Family Activities

Sport forms another part of the programme, with activities designed for both participants and families.

On Sunday, October 11, an orienteering race will take place around Es Cubells, with separate family and popular routes. Registration is required.

The same evening, the church will host a sung Mass featuring the Coral La Encina from Cantabria.

Family activities are also included in the programme, giving younger visitors the opportunity to take part in activities designed specifically for children.

October 15: The Main Day of Santa Teresa

The central day of the celebrations will be Thursday, October 15, the feast of Santa Teresa.

The programme begins with Mass at 19:00, followed by a procession and a traditional ball pagès performance by the Grup Folklòric Sant Jordi de ses Salines.

The evening will then continue with “Hoy puede ser un gran día”, a musical tribute to Joan Manuel Serrat.

The combination of religious tradition, procession, traditional dance and live music reflects the character of the Santa Teresa celebrations and their connection with the history of Es Cubells.

A Celebration of Ibiza's Traditional Culture

One of the highlights later in the month will be the Festa pagesa at Font d’en Xiquet on Saturday, October 24.

The event will include traditional games, ball pagès performed by Grup Folklòric sa Colla des Vedrà and the premiere of the comedy “Ses matances”, presented by Grup de Teatre des Cubells.

The event is intended to bring together residents while keeping local traditions and forms of popular culture at the centre of the celebrations.

Exploring Es Cubells' History

The programme also looks beyond festivities and into the history of the surrounding landscape.

On Sunday, October 18, an archaeological excursion to Puig Redó will depart from the Es Cubells car park. Archaeologist Sergio Moreno will accompany the route and explain the remains of an ancient fortification in the area.

The excursion is expected to last approximately three and a half hours and is classified as moderate in difficulty.

Culture, Memory and the Community

The celebrations continue into the final weeks of October with activities focused on local residents and the preservation of cultural memory.

On Friday, October 30, Es Cubells will hold a lunch in honour of the village's older residents. The programme will then continue with the presentation of El Cançoner de can Pere Mosson, by Joana Tur Planells and Isidor Marí Mayans.

The day will conclude with a screening of Vedraners, a documentary produced by the Associació de Vesins des Cubells as part of the “Units pel nostre parlar 2026” project.

The Paella Competition Brings the Festivities to a Close

The final major event will take place on Saturday, November 14 with the XVII Concurso de Paellas des Cubells.

The closing celebration will include the paella competition, a popular paella, music and a DJ, bringing the extended Santa Teresa programme to an end.

Registrations for the competition are scheduled to remain open until November 8, subject to available places.

Keeping Es Cubells' Traditions Alive

The 2026 Santa Teresa programme is more than a series of individual events. Across more than five weeks, it brings together religious traditions, local food, traditional dance, music, sport, art, archaeology and community activities.

For visitors looking to experience a quieter and more traditional side of Ibiza in October and November, the celebrations offer an opportunity to discover Es Cubells through the people, customs and cultural heritage that continue to shape the village.
